McBusted’s Pokémon Adventures Part 1 - Showdown in Kanto

 I am a huge fan of two UK boy bands McFly and Busted and their super group McBusted and Game Freak's best selling video game franchise Pokémon so I have come up with 14 short stories where the McBusted guys tour around the world of Pokémon, having adventures along the way. Here's the first one where they tour in the Kanto region from the Gen 1 games. During the tour, they encountered Mewtwo who challenged them for a battle. Enjoy and stay tuned for more to come. 

McBusted’s showdown in Kanto

Chapter 1: Enter the Kanto Region

 McFly and Busted, the two biggest, beloved boy bands joined together as their supergroup McBusted have just begun their tour in the world of Pokémon starting with the Kanto region. The boys were excited to see all kinds of Pokémon as well as fans from each and every region.

 “I can’t wait to see all of the Pokémon while performing for our fans!” said Danny excitedly. “It’s going to be a blast checking out the world of Pokemon!” said James. “We’ll be the very best super-group like no one ever was” said Tom. “Gotta tour them all!” said Matt jokingly.

 As soon as they arrived in Kanto, the McBusted boys were greeted by Professor Oak. “Hello there! Welcome to the world of Pokémon!” said Professor Oak. He gave them Pokémon partners as their welcome gifts for their tour in Kanto. It wasn’t long until they toured in sold-out concerts in many of Kanto’s biggest cities including Celadon City, Saffron City and Vermillion City.

 The McBusted boys had many fun, bonding moments during the tour (while playing their hits and their ‘Gotta catch them all’ cover) including when Danny jokingly kissed Dougie on the cheek while he was singing, Dougie playfully touched Danny’s pec that was showing on his white tank vest and Matt cheekily slapped Charlie’s rear end.

 Along the way, the McBusted boys have caught and raised a few Pokémon that they bonded with. Danny was proud to raise a Venusaur. Although Danny is known to be clumsy, his Venusaur kindly gave him a helping hand he saved his fall with its vines. Tom had a Jolteon which matched his electrifying energy when he jammed his guitar. Dougie had a Blastoise who taught it many erratic strategies that suited his unpredictable nature. Harry raised a Charizard and likes to show off with it. James has a Dragonite and likes to ride on it for him to fly high, just like for one of his Sugar Beach album songs. Matt has a Flareon whose fiery nature matches his wild antics and Charlie has a Vaproeon its gracefulness mirrors his calmness.

 “I am flying high!” cheered James as he was riding on his Dragonite. “Thanks for saving my coffee. Imagine if it spilled on the system” said Danny as his Venusaur grabbed hold of his cup with its vines. “We’re going to rock with my Blastoise!” boasted Dougie. “We’ll set the stage ablaze with my Flareon!” said Matt with excitement. “Bet we could use their moves for our stage effects” said Charlie who was inspired. “I’ve heard that Charizard is popular! I bet I’ll meet many fans who have one too!” bragged Harry. “Like as many times as you are shirtless” said Tom dryly.

 Their Pokémon journey was off to an exciting start, but little did they know that an even greater challenge awaited them.

 Chapter 2: Taken by storm

 The tour continued with the boys were were blown away by the the enthusiasm of the Pokémon world’s fans, who cheered not only for their music but for their Pokémon as well which were shown during their segments; showing their moves on stage which excited the crowd even more.

 They also had many fun moments along the way like one time in Vermillion City when Charlie spotted Danny and Dougie right next to a truck. “What are you both doing here?” he asked. “We heard that there’s a very rare Pokémon underneath so I got Danny to use Strength. He’s the right Himbo for the job” said Dougie. “Leave it to me Dougs!” said Danny who pretended to use his strength to lift the truck though he merely reached his hand underneath but he can only find a Lava Cookie. “Oh, guess that’s it” said Dougie with disappointment. “Never mind, it’s a tasty treat” said Danny with optimism taking a bite and sharing his pieces with Dougie and Charlie.

 There was also one time when Tom, Harry, James and Matt were jogging when they found a sleeping Snorlax blocking the path. “Just how do we wake it up?” asked James. “I’ve heard that someone has a flute that can wake it up” said Tom. “We don’t have one so let’s use our music!” said Harry, getting out his drums while Tom, James and Matt used their ukulele, guitar and bass. The Snorlax woke up and glared at them. “Uh, let’s get out of here!” said Matt and they ran off before Snorlax could attack them.

The McBusted boys have found a Jigglypuff and considered catching one. However, it took out its microphone and used sing. "What a lovely lullaby..." said Dougie before they all fell asleep from Jigglypuff's singing. Jigglypuff noticed that they were all asleep and got angry at them. It look out the tip of its microphone and scribbled drawings on their faces as payback, leaving them in a huff. Once they all woke up, the McBusted boys were shocked to see the drawings on their faces. "What the hell? Who drew on me?!" yelled Tom. "I don't need any more eyebrows!" exclaimed Charlie. 

 However, strange things began to happen. In Fuchsia City they noticed some dark clouds that came out of nowhere though it seemed trivial at the time. It was followed by a powerful storm that seemed to come out of nowhere but thankfully, it happened just after they left Cinnabar Island or else they would have been standard, threatening their tour schedule. 

 Despite these odd occurrences, the boys continued their tour without incident. They had one final concert to perform in Cerulean City, and they were determined to make it their best yet. But hours before the show, they received an urgent message from Professor Oak.

 “There have been unusual readings coming from Cerulean Cave. It’s a place for only the most skilled Trainers. I believe it’s related to strange weather as of late. Please be careful there” explained the Professor. The boys felt awe yet intrigued. They had heard rumours about Cerulean Cave which is home to a powerful legendary Pokémon; Mewtwo.

 “Imagine if we face a legendary Pokémon like that” said Danny. “Yeah, that would be a thrilling experience!” said James who was intrigued. “I don’t know; we’re not really Pokémon trainers. It could be dangerous” said Charlie. Just then, they were all suddenly hit with a telepathic message. It said to come to the Cerulean Cave to test their strength. “Woah! I felt that men! Could that be Mewtwo?” said Dougie. “Come on, we have to check it out!” said Tom who was getting excited. “Yeah, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!” said Matt whose fascination was getting stronger. “Yeah, I’m aren’t backing down from a challenge!” said Harry with his competitive spirit firing up to eleven.

 With their decision made, the boys set off for Cerulean Cave with their Pokémon partners by their side.

 Chapter 3: Mewtwo Strikes

 Cerulean Cave was dark with cold air and unsettling silence that made the boys uneasy but they had each other and their Pokémon side by side for comfort.

 As they ventured deeper into the cave, they reached a massive area that is seemingly empty and felt strange psychic energy that almost touched their veins. Sure enough, it was Mewtwo who was floating above them.

 The legendary Pokémon’s eyes glowed with an otherworldly light as it ascended towards them. “I have sensed your presence in this world, and I have watched your journey with interest,” Mewtwo said telepathically. “You possess strength, but do you possess the heart and will to face a true challenge? I shall test you to see if you are worthy.”

 With a glint in his eyes, Danny said “We’re ready Mewtwo! We’ll show you what we’re made off as two bands combined!” “We haven’t come all the way to back down now!” said James with determination. Mewtwo nodded, impressed by their courage. “Very well. Let the battle begin.”

 Mewtwo’s powers were extraordinary with its powerful Psychic abilities that outmatched their partner Pokémon’s moves in every way combined with lighting speed even though it was outnumbered. It quickly became clear that this will be far from an easy battle.

 “Venusaur, use Solar Beam!” Danny shouted. Venusaur charged up its attack, using the sunlight that was shining through the cave roof which helped it to fully charge its power as planned by Danny. The beam fired towards Mewtwo, but it deflected the move using Psychic, redirecting the energy harmlessly towards the floor. Venusaur narrowly avoided it using the sunlight that made it faster with its ability Chlorophyll.

 “Jolteon, Thunderbolt, now! Shine like you can during our shows!” Tom commanded Jolteon’s fur crackled with electricity as it launched a powerful Thunderbolt at Mewtwo, only for it to counter the attack with its Psyshock.

 “Blastoise, Hydro Pump!” Dougie called out as Blastoise’s cannons fired twin jets of water. Just as the move was about to hit Mewtwo, it used Psychic to send the water back onto to the ground, crashing harmlessly. “Least I didn’t get drenched” said Dougie dryly.

 “We can’t lose here! Charizard use Flamethrower!” Harry ordered. Charizard unleashed a torrent of fire, but like before, Mewtwo used Psychic to redirect the flames into the air.

 “Dragonite! Get close to it and use Dragon Rush!” said James. Dragonite rushed towards Mewtwo at high speed, only for Mewtwo to fire its Ice Beam at Dragonite. It just about handles the hit with its ability Multiscale. Still, Mewtwo was able to see that attack from a mile away and dodged it.

 “We won’t let it stop us! Go Flareon! Get out there and use Flare Blitz!” called Matt. Flareon followed his command and charged in but Mewtwo teleported out of the way, leaving Flareon to slam into the cavern floor.

 Charlie’s Vaporeon had sustained some damage from Mewtwo’s Psyshock. “Don’t push yourself Vaporeon! Hold back and bit and use Wish to heal yourself!” called Charlie. Vaporeon used its defensives to endure Mewtwo’s attacks to buy some time until Wish’s healing effect took place to restore some of its health.

 “Come on! We gotta show what we’re made of here!” called Harry. “Let’s go all out the offensive and combine our strength together!” said Matt. The boys commanded their Pokémon to fire their attacks all at once towards Mewtwo, only for it to use Psychic to effortlessly block the attacks, much to their disbelief. “No way!” exclaimed Tom. “It’s so strong!” cried James.

 Mewtwo’s eyes flared with intensity which was followed by it unleashing a massive Psychic attack, sending the boys and their Pokémon flying back, leaving them dazed. “Veunsaur! Are you alright?” called Danny as they were checking on their Pokémon. “Don’t give up, I know you can still fight!” said Dougie. Their Pokémon looked at them with reassurance, letting them know that they were far from out.

 The McBusted guys then checked on each other as they held hands and looked at each other as they helped to get themselves back up. “We all need to work together just like for our music” said Tom as he held Danny tightly. “If we combine our strengths, we shall win this. Just like for our combined creativity” said Charlie to Matt and James. “So let’s win this together!” said Harry to Dougie, picking him up. They all refused to give up with the determination in their soul and the love for each other, something that Mewtwo took notice of.

 Danny nodded and said “I’m with you Tom! Venusaur, lure it in using your Power Whip!”Venusaur unleashed its vines towards Mewtwo. As it was distracted, Danny called “Alright, now use Sleep Powder!” and Venusaur released a cloud of shimmering powder, and with Mewtwo distracted, wasn’t able to dodge. The legendary Pokémon’s movements slowed as it became dozy.

 “Great move there Danny! Now Jolteon, use Buzzy Buzz!” Tom added. The shocking jolts of electricity paralyzed Mewtwo, further limiting its movements.

 “Ok Blastoise, use Shell Smash!” called Dougie. Parts of Blastoise’ shell became loose, lowering its defences but giving a massive boost to its offensives. “Now use Rapid Spin!” said Dougie. Blastoise’s attacks became stronger with Mewtwo taking heavy damage.

 “Now’s our turn! Charizard use Fire Blast!” Harry commanded as Charizard followed up the attack with a direct hit.

 James has spotted that Mewtwo was about to attack. “Quick Dragonite, use Extreme Speed!” called James. Dragonite struck Mewtwo with a quick, powerful blow that caused it to fall onto the ground.

 “Now’s our chance! Flareon, use Sizzly Slide!” Matt commanded, using this opportunity for his Flareon to score a direct hit.

 “Vaporeon, finish it with Bouncy Bubble!” Charlie called out, and Vaporeon’s powerful stream of bubbles finished off Mewtwo.

 Chapter 4: After the storm

 As the dust settled, Mewtwo lay on the ground, exhausted but satisfied with the result. The boys just comprehended what they had just accomplished. They had faced one of the most powerful Pokémon in the world and emerged victorious, not just with brute strength but with their love for each other and teamwork, just like they should do as a supergroup.

 Mewtwo slowly levitated from the ground and its eyes were glowing softly. “You have proven yourselves worthy showing the bond with your Pokémon and with each other that makes you strong. For that, take those eggs as my reward” said Mewtwo as it summoned two eggs that were floating towards the direction of the McFly and Busted guys. “I trust that you all take care of them” said Mewtwo as they grabbed the eggs.

 Mewtwo gave them a final nod of respect before teleporting them outside of Cerulean Cave to safety, leaving the boys and their Pokémon to take a moment to their victory. “We did it!” cheered Matt. “We’re the best!” said Harry celebrating.

 Once they arrived back at their hotel rooms, they gathered around the eggs placed in the incubators with fascination. “It’s nice for Mewtwo to give us those eggs” said Danny.  “So what Pokemon we’ll get?” asked Tom. “I don’t know, baby Mewtwos?” joked Dougie, causing them to laugh.  “Whatever they hatch into, let’s look after them well” said Charlie. “In the meantime, we should write a song about this experience” suggested James. They all agreed with the idea. It was a tough, but thrilling battle that is worth remembering as they express it with music.

 Their final concert in Cerulean City was a massive success just like their battle, with the boys singing their new song, “Mewtwo’s Test,” a powerful anthem about Mewtwo’s strength along with the friendship, teamwork, and the strength found in unity throughout their time in Kanto. The crowd cheered throughout their new song, and the boys were proud on how it turned out with the song reflecting their journey throughout the Kanto region that they’ll never forget.

 As they left the stage, they looked at each other and smiled as they were ready for more exciting Pokémon adventures yet to come throughout their tour and for the day when their eggs hatch. In the meantime, they are secretly watched by Mewtwo who is proud that it has played a part in forging a new bond between the boys and their Pokémon and finding the right people who can take care of the eggs that it has found.
