The Luna Eclipse of the Heart

After a break from writing, I have come up with a short story that features one of my origianl character Dominic who has been appearing from my other stories with McFly and Busted, focusing more of his characteration (with some parts that will provide a few hints on his origins for an upcoming story) and serving as a prologue for the McBusted Pokémon Adventures stories. Dominic travels to Kitakami with his friends to investigate the rumours of Bloodmoon Ursaluna, only for it to turn into a rescue mission.

Enjoy and there will be more stories with McFly and Busted and others.

The Luna Eclipse of the Heart

I am Dominic, you may know me as a huge fan of McFly, Busted and their supergroup McBusted who happened to be gay. This, along with other secrets is what I’ve kept hidden from others out of fear of being persecuted for who I am until I have met my very idols that have helped me to give me the courage to come out to my loved ones. They all have given me acceptance and love which felt like a breather.

Since then, I’ve been widening my world as I live to be my true self, exploring the world and helping others who need it. One way of doing so is by learning the wonders of amazing creatures that live alongside us known as Pokémon by becoming a Pokémon Researcher.

What we Pokémon Researchers do is help professors learn and discover the many mysteries of Pokémon from every region. It has been an enjoyable job that has given me a chance to meet, discover, and get close to many different Pokémon (as well as meeting other people, including the Champion from Sinnoh and Kalos Cynthia and Diantha, who have been helping me with my research).

Some of these includes raising an Alakazam as one of the Pokémon that is capable of Mega Evolving and one of my first Pokémon that I get to raise, Sylveon as one of the evolutions of Eevee which evolved after forming a close bond while learning a Fairy-type move, Togekiss which was raised from an egg as a Togepi, a shiny Pikachu that I was lucky to find in Kitakami, Cyclizar which is said to be the modern-day counterpart of Paldea’s Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon, Ninjask which after it evolves from Nincada causes Shedinja to appear, Octillery which evolves from Remoraid despite their appearance suggest otherwise, Palafin who has the ability to transform into a super hero, Glimmora who is said to be linked with Terastallizing,  Gastrodon, Rotom,  Sawsbuck, Oricorio,Toxtricity and Tatsurgi who have different forms.

I found that I have this special ability that allows me to understand how a Pokémon is feeling and communicate to them telepathy which is how I get closer to my Pokémon. This ability is said to be passed down by my kind of people but that’s something that I may explain more another time as this comes in use to a recent, particular case that involves a special kind of Ursaluna that is said to be found deep in the forest at Kitakami.

My team were assigned to investigate the Ursaluna. I was with my friends and fellow Pokémon Researchers including Duncan (he has blond long hair), Oliver (his hairstyle is short and blond), Tibbut (he has ginger hair) and Amber (she has chestnaut hair). We were having our discussion while we were on the plane that is heading towards Kitakami. “It’s rather unusual to find an Ursaluna since they can only be found in Hisui which was the original region of Sinnoh” said Oliver who is known to be calm and analytical.

“It’s better not be one of those rumours or hearsays unlike the one about finding a special kind of Pokémon on the east coast of Cinnabar Island or the one that claims about a new evolution of Klinklang” muttered Duncan. He tends to be headstrong and stubborn.

“Well, that’s what we’re here for; to find out if those stories are true” I said keeping my cool. My Alakazam, Sylveon and Pikachu agree with me.  “I don’t know. I find Ursalunas and Ursarings scary. What if that one tries to attack us? I rather research about Teddiursa” said Tibbut nervously. He does tend to get nervous at times. “Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll be fine! I’ll keep you safe” said Amber who is kind-hearted and optimist.

Soon enough, we arrived in Kitakami, meeting up with a woman who is said to have some knowledge about this special Ursaluna named Perrin. “This Ursaluna is known as The Bloodmoon Beast. I have a photo of it right here during the foggy night which might be hard to see but it’s the best shot I have” said Perrin, showing us a particular photo of what it appeared to be a tall figure with a circular mark on the forehead.

“How can we be so sure that it’s a legitimate photo? For all we know, you could have used the fog to forge it” said Duncan with scepticism. “Duncan! Don’t be rude!” said Amber, prodding him with her elbow. Perrin laughed and said, “You youngsters have some free spirit, I like that.” Oliver and I were intrigued by the photo. “I can see how it gets the title The Bloodmoon Beast. The moon on its head looks red just like blood. It looks like it's standing upright, rather than on its four paws” I said analysing it. “It’s giving me a nervous vibe,” said Tibbut with awe.

“Wow, you seem to have the right idea” said Perrin who was impressed. Oliver asked, “Do you have any idea how it got here?” “It’s said to have swum across the seas from the land of Hisui. Because of its new environment, it gained special powers to adapt to its new home. As a result, it is said to have lived for a long time” answered Perrin.

She added that it’s rarely seen but our best chances to find it is during foggy nights deep in the Timeless Woods. “What such good timing as according to the weather, it’s going to be a foggy night” said Oliver. “But you all better be careful as The Bloodmoon Beast is said to be ferocious, attacking anything that gets in its way and destroying its surroundings. I barely made it out alive myself” said Perrin. This made Tibbut weary and said, “Maybe we should stay clear from it.” “Stay put if you want but you’ll miss this chance of proving its existence” said Duncan. “We’ll keep it together and maintain our distance,” I said reassuringly. “Well, good luck Kiddos” said Perrin. Unknown to us, some shady people have overheard our conversation.

We waited until late at night when we cautiously made our way to The Timeless Woods. The fog was certainly thick. We waited, keeping ourselves hidden behind a tree, picking a spot where there was some destroyed vegetation and tree branches. My Pikachu was on high alert while Sylveon and Alakazam kept close to me which made me feel safe. My friends talked quietly among themselves while I kept a sharp lookout.

“We don’t know what is out there so we better keep our guard up” said Oliver cautiously. “I prefer the daylight. The scenery at night is making me feel uneasy” said Tibbut anxiously. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep you safe” said Amber who held onto him. “Well waiting out in the cold like this is a chore. It’ll be a waste of time if we came all this way for nothing” ranted Duncan.

Just then, Pikachu’s ears twitched as if they picked up something. “What is it Pikachu? Did you hear something?” I asked. “Pika! Pikachu!” said Pikachu who pointed in the direction where it heard some footsteps. The others held their breath. That’s when I saw a glowing Bloodmoon within the fog with the bipedal Ursaluna emerging from the fog.

We all stood in awe while we took note of its appearance compared to regular Ursaluna; it was taller, bulkier and had a lighter colouration. “So it’s real after all,” said Duncan with astonishment. “I never thought I would get to see a relic from the past like this,” I said with fascination. Oliver took note of its left eye which appeared to be glowing. “I’m guessing it's how it can see in the dark,” said Oliver. “Yeah, that makes sense here,” I said.

The Ursaluna then approached some Greedents, the squirrel-like Pokémon. It scared them off by roaring and firing its blast from the full moon that was glowing in red, destroying some nearby trees which would explain the destroyed vegetation hence its name Blood Moon. “Those poor Greedents!” cried Amber. “It sure is scary!” said Tibbut. “We better stay clear from it for our own good” said Duncan. “Right, the golden rule of being a Pokémon Researcher is to not endanger our own lives” said Oliver.

They’re not completely wrong but something tells me by the way of looking at this Ursaluna, it seems to be sad on the inside which could explain why it acts this way. A part of me wanted to help it. Suddenly Ursaluna was suddenly attacked by the move Petal Blizzard. As it moved to find the attacker, it got hurt by the Stealth Rocks that were laid on the ground. Ursaluna cried out in pain and agitation as it was then caught in the sneer traps.

“What’s going on?!” cried Tibbut. I can tell that something is not right. My instants confirmed it as there were two Pokémon Hunters who showed up from the fog. “We got you now!” laughed the woman Pokémon Hunter named Ellie. “Not even your eyes can detect us!” taunted the male Pokémon Hunter named Justin. Their Pokémon were Florges and Minor in each of their forms and they were the ones who used Petal Blizzard and Stealth Rocks.

I wasn’t going to allow this and went over to them with my three Pokémon following me first, followed by Duncan, Oliver, Tibbut and Amber. “Hey! Leave Ursaluna alone!” I cried. “Just who do you all think you are all are to stop us?!” said Justin. “We happened to study Ursaluna. People like you have no right to harm other Pokémon who should live in harmony with us!” I answered. “Just what are you both doing to Ursaluna?!” demanded Amber. “We heard that this is a rare Pokémon that’ll be valuable for the market! They’re better off sold as cash” replied Ellie. “We happened to be skilled hunters and shall teach you kids a lesson for interfering with us grown-ups!” said Justin as they set their Pokémon on us.

I commanded Sylveon to use its Helping Hand on Alakazam and Pikachu to power up their Psychic and Thunderbolt attacks. Their Florges and Minor were far from push-over though with both of those Pokémon setting up Light Screen and Relfect which reduced their attacks. Justin and Ellie were also rather ruthless and Ellie ordered Florges to attack Ursaluna with its Moonblast despite it not taking part in the battle. “Hey! Stop attacking Ursaluna!” I cried. “I’ll shut you up punk!” said Justin who told Minor to fire its Stone Edge towards me. My Pokémon spotted this and with their instinct, they shielded me from the attack which caused them to get hurt. “Ha! Ha! That's what being too soft with your Pokémon gets to you!” laughed Justin as I went over to them. I couldn’t help but to be responsible for getting hurt. “Perhaps if you allowed us to claim our prize, then your precious Pokémon wouldn’t get involved” taunted Ellie.

I looked at Ursaluna and with my telepathic powers, I found out that the reason why Ursaluna acted so hostile was because it was lonely with many other Pokémon staying clear from it because of its appearance. Even with its adaptations, it feels out of place in Kikakami having to come from Hisui but have ended up here after drifting ashore when it crossed the sea to get away from other Ursaluna who became aggressive and attacked it. I can relate to it having to feel like an outcast with my sexuality which gives me more reason to help it.

“We are not kids, we are more reasonable adults than the both of you!” said Duncan who sent out his Annihilape to attack using Rage Fist. His Annilhilape is a powerful Pokémon but Duncan is rather impulsive and doesn’t notice the dual screens that get in the way, allowing his Annilhilape to be exposed by one of the Florges’ Moonblast. Being the stubborn one, Duncan commanded Annilhape to use Drain Punch as soon as it got up, only for one of the Minors to fly towards it using Aerobatics.

“We won’t let you both steal any Pokémon!” said Oliver as he fought with his Ampharos, unleashing its Discharge towards The Minors as they have a type disadvantage against Electric types. However, Ellie commanded one of the Florges to intercept the attack using Dazzling Gleam which allowed Minor to fire its Meteor Beam at Ampharos. The bright light from Dazzling Gleam has also hurt Ursaluna’s eyes.

Both Tibbut and Amber fight with their Raichus with Tibbut using the Kantoian Raichu and Amber using the Alolan Raichu. They tried to stop Ellie and Justin from using their Pokémon to attack Ursaluna while we were distracted. “I won’t allow you to hurt other Pokémon!” cried Amber as her Alolan Raichu fired its Thunderbolt towards the Florges and Minors but one of the Minors spotted Alolan Raichu and used its Confuse Ray to make Alolan Raichu dizzy with confusion which left itself open to be taken down by Minor’s Power Gem. “Leave them alone!” yelled Tibbut who bravery backed her up with his Raichu firing its Thunderbolt at the Minors, only for Florges to block the attack with Substitute and then sucker punch Raichu by shooting its Moonblast at it. Ursaluna roared out in agitation with all the fighting, noise and pain that it fired its Blood Moon at us. We all ducked to avoid the attack while covering our Pokémon.

As Justin and Ellie’s Florges and Minors continued to hurt our Pokémon including Bloodmoon Ursaluna, I went over to help Alakazam and Sylveon who were unfairly ganged up by two Florges and two Minoirs, only for me and my Pokémon to fall into a large pitfall trap set by Justin and Elle. The others fell in with one of the Florges using Psychic on Duncan, Oliver, Annilhilape and Ampharos and one of the Minoirs pushing Tibbut, Amber and their Raichus in using Aerobatics as ordered by their trainers.

“That is for messing with us!” said Ellie. “I say we claim our prize,” said Justin as Ursaluna was weakened for it to be caught in their cage that is designed to trap even the strongest Pokémon. While they were setting up their cage, I was trying to climb out of the hole despite my injuries but Oliver held me back. “No Dominic! It’s too dangerous!” said Oliver. “But I have to save Ursaluna!” I protested. “They’re too strong for us Dominic. We’re better off calling the police and getting someone to help us” said Duncan.

I couldn’t help but feel down about failing to help Ursaluna as I looked down at the floor. It makes me think back to the time when my kind of people were persecuted due to having special powers that were feared by other people and when I was bullied because of my sexuality. I felt useless and alone back then which is why I strive to help other people so that they won’t have to bear the burdens alone or feel like an outcast like I have.  I also remembered the time when I failed to cure a sick Stoutland (even though there wasn’t much I could do because of its old age) so I wasn’t going to let another Pokémon suffer again.

My Pokémon understood my feelings with Sylveon gently patting me with its ribbon-like feeders, Alakazam and Pikachu looking at me with reassurance (telling me that it wasn’t my fault for getting themselves hurt earlier). “I know you want to help out but you got to look after yourself too,” said Duncan. “We’ll be right with you Dominic!” said Amber. “Yeah, Ursaluna may be scary but I’m not letting those hunters get away with it!” said Tibbut. “Yes, don’t blame yourself, Dominic. We’re ready to hear your plan of action” said Oliver.

I smiled at them, knowing that they were at my side as among the first friends who accepted my sexuality when I came out to them. There’s no time to blame myself with a plan of action which involves Pikachu. Alakazam used Psychic to lift Pikachu from the pitfall trap and ran towards the two hunters as they were busy moving the cage into their jeep (and were squabbling about who gets paid the most first).

“Hey! That Pikachu is shiny! I want it!” said Ellie admiring its shiny form as Pikachu shows off with its dance. “A Pokémon with a different colouration would certainly be valuable for the market!” said Justin excitedly. “Hold on! Why didn’t we notice the shiny Pikachu in the first place?!” said Ellie. “Well you were the one who got caught up battling those Twerps!” augured Justin. With Pikachu distracting them, Alakazam carried us from the pitfall trap using Psychic. It then launched an ambush attack at their Florges and Minor using Shadow Ball with me Mega Evolving Alakazam, giving it extra power.

“What? How did they escape?!” cried Justin. “That was your fault!” cried Ellie as their Pokémon fought the others which helped to buy me some time to free Ursaluna as planned (with me giving a thumbs up to Pikachu). Sylveon, Mega Alakazam and Pikachu accompanied me while I sent out Togekiss and Rotom to back up my friends.

“You won’t get away from us this time!” said Duncan who thought of a clever strategy by using my Togekiss’ Dazzling Gleam for his Annilhilape to hide from the attacks for it to strike its Rage Fist towards the Florges.

The Minors were about to rush towards Togekiss using Aerobatics but Oliver commanded his Ampharos to paralyse them using Thunder Wave. Togekiss appreciated the help and returned the favour by using Dazzling Gleam on the Minors.

Florges and Minor were about to attack my Rotom but Tibbut and Amber’s Raichus stopped them with their Thunderbolts. “We won’t let them hurt you!” said Amber. “We’re in this together!” said Tibbut. Rotom thanked them and finished off the two Pokémon by firing its Shadow Ball.

All of their teamwork has helped me to get closer to the cage that trapped Ursaluna with Mega Alakazam, Sylveon and Pikachu helping me to break the bars with their powerful moves. Ursaluna glared at us with hostile looks, thinking that we were about to attack it. “We’re here to get you out of there!” I said, staying as calm as possible. Ursaluna still didn’t trust me and angrily fired its Bloodmoon towards me but Mega Alakazam protected me by using Psychic to divert the attack away from my direction which gave me a chance to get into the cage with Sylveon following behind me (even though I was aware that it would be dangerous but I have no other choice).

Once I got closer to Ursaluna, I gently said “It’s ok, I know you are scared and alone in this world for being different. I know what it’s like but we don’t have to fight”. It was too soon for Ursaluna to understand me just yet who was about to attack me by swiping its large paw at me but Sylveon caught it with its ribbon-like feelers. Mega Alakazam glared at Ursaluna as if it was about to attack in self-defence but I looked at Mega Alakazam to let it know that I was ok. Mega Alakazam nodded as it understood me. It also helped to reassure Pikachu who was worried about my safety.

As Sylveon used its smoothing aura from its ribbon-like feelers to help Ursaluna calm down as I continued to try to reason with it by saying “I am just like you who felt like an outcast with who I love and others giving me a hard time because of it which makes it harder for me to fit in. We may be different but we both share the same world that is more beautiful with everyone having their own identity with their differences. You are not alone and I want to help you.”

Ursaluna looked at me with awe as if I was getting through to it. Just then, Justin and Ellie spotted me who ordered their Minor and Florges to fire their Stone Edge and Moon Blast towards us. I bravely took the hits. “What do you think you’re doing with our prize?!” exclaimed Justin. “If you want it that badly, then you have to go through us!” I said. “Very well, you will pay with our wrath!” said Ellie as their Florges and Minor continued to attack me and my Pokémon as they tried to protect me, much to the horror of my other friends who went over to help but they were obstructed by the other Florges and Minor forms.

This was when Ursaluna realised that I was on its side, helping it to pluck up the courage to defend me from the attacks by shielding me from the attacks by firing its Bloodmoon which also hits the Florges and Minors, much to Justin and Ellie’s surprise and the delight of the others and myself. “Thanks for that,” I said with both us of looking at each other. I can tell that Ursaluna was grateful for my help and wanted to help me in return. It then unleashed its Earth Power towards the Florges which toppled them over, giving Sylveon and Pikachu a chance to finish them off.

“Way a go!” I said, praising it. “Don’t just stand there!” cried Justin. “We can’t let them get away with their meddling!” yelled Ellie with their Minors firing their Stone Edge but Duncan’s Annilhilape and Oliver’s Ampharos intercepted the attacks with their Rage Fist (which was powered up after Annilhilape took the hit) and Thunderbolt, allowing Ursaluna who finish them with its Moon Blast. “I guess I owe you one,” said Duncan. It also helped to protect Tibbut, Amber and their Raichus from Florges and Minor’s Petal Blizzard and Swift by repelling the moves using Hyper Voice. “You’re not so scary after all,” said Tibbut. Ursaluna was about to get attacked by Florges and Minor but I spotted them first and commanded Togekiss to fire its Air Slash at them. Both of those Pokémon flinched with Togekiss’ ability Serene Grace, making them open for Rotom to finish them using Thunderbolt.

The last remaining Florges and Minor were about to fire their Moonblast and Meteor Beam towards Ursaluna but Mega Alakazam intercepted the attacks by firing its Dazzling Gleam, allowing Ursaluna to finish them with its Bloodmoon. Justin and Ellie were enraged but they were both carried by Mega Alakazam using  Psychic who put them into the cage for them to be arrested once we contacted the police. "We would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids!" ranted Justin.

Once they were taken away, I said to Ursaluna that it was free to go. However, it stayed and looked at me. “I think it wants to go with you,” said Oliver, much to my surprise. “Yeah, you have earned its trust. I know someone like you would be a good trainer for it” said Amber. I happily accepted Bloodmoon Ursaluna to join my party who was happy to be caught in the Moon Ball (which normally works for Pokémon who evolve by being exposed to a Moon Stone but it is fitting for Ursaluna). This will give us a chance to not only study Bloodmoon Ursaluna but to also understand it and to help to make it feel more welcome in this world.

Afterwards, we continued exploring the world of Pokémon, knowing that there are many more discoveries to learn while helping out those who need it. Oh as I was visiting the Sinnoh region, I heard that McFly and Busted will be touring in each of the Pokémon regions.  I couldn’t pass up this chance to meet up with them again.
