Here is the final chapter of my McBusted and Persona 5 crossover story where the McBusted boys team up with the Phantom Thieves to clear their names featuring guest star David Platt from Coronation Street. 

The McBusted boys, the Phantom Thieves and David are set to confront Shadow Melissa having to sent the calling call to Melissa to steal her desired treasure. Enjoy.

Chapter Five - The masked finale

As Melissa was making preparations for her press conference to report the McBusted boys for their ‘assault’, she found a social media post that tagged her which was a calling card. It reads “Madame Melissa Liher , the one who claims to be the shining idol who shines the brightest when in reality, uses your charm and fame to hide your lies, ruining other people’s lives. We have decided to make you confess all your crimes with your own mouth for the world to know the truth. From, The Phantom Thieves”.

“So the Phantom Thieves...are real as they come. As if they’ll make me confess,” said the sociopathic idol who ignored the post, though on the inside, her shadow self was rattled that her wrongdoings are going to be exposed, provoking them to defend their treasure at any cost.

Having to discreetly witness Melissa receiving the calling card from afar, The McBusted boys, The Phantom Thieves and David were all ready to enter her palace to steal her treasure. “It’s time for our payback!” said Dougie. “Proving that she’s all Lies”, said Harry.

Melissa’s Mansion was swarming with shadows, having to be on high alert, but The McBusted boys, now having to master their Personas’ powers, were more than ready to take them out while aiding The Phantom Thieves and David with their music.

“This is like crashing the wedding; only this time we’re crashing her mansion!” said Matt as he and the McBusted boys took out some shadows using Huehuecóyotl’s Melody Blaster. “Yeah, we’re blasting our way through!” said Tom, using Huehuecóyotl’s Musical Boomburst. “Nice for you all to fully utilise your Persona!” said Morgana, praising them.

“Rockers, your voices have been a great help as ever!” said Futaba as she witnessed the other Phantom Thieves dodging the shadow’s attacks with help from the McBusted boy’s singing powers. “I can see why my son is a fan of you all”, said David as he received a power-up. “Glad for you all to enjoy our show!” said Danny cheerfully. “But just you wait for our grand finale!” said Charlie.

As they almost reached the treasure, a large horde of shadows was approaching them. “There are so many of them!” called Ann. “Let us be the show stoppers!” said Danny as the McBusted boys unleashed their Synchronise Symphony to quickly wipe them out. “Now that saves some time”, said Ryuji as they moved onwards. "You can thank the power of music", said James. 

The McBusted boys, The Phantom Thieves, and David have reached Melissa ’s treasure, which became manifested into a medal. “Just like the one that she won. Shame that she let fame go way over her head,” said Charlie with displeasure. “And now it shall be ours for her to change her heart,” said Morgana.

But before they had a chance to steal the treasure, Shadow Melissa had shown up, blocking their path. Melissa’s shadow self resembled Melissa but dressed as a queen. “So you’re the worms who’ve been trespassing on my mansion. I’ll have to execute you all for that,” said Shadow Melissa menacingly.  “We have come to put an end to your lies and treachery!” said Ren. “Yeah, just because you’re famous and good looking, it doesn’t give you the right to use others as your playthings and discard them as you please!” yelled Ann. “You tried to frame us for assaulting you just for standing up to you, and we’re going to make the world know how ugly and toxic you are on the inside!” declared Dougie. “So what of it? Everyone knows that I am a queen, so I get to use my fame however I want. People are dolls for me to play with and dispose of whenever I’m done with them,” boasted Shadow Melissa.

“But why use your fame to treat others the way you do when you could have used your career to inspire others?” asked Danny with sorrow. “You have a lot of fans who looked up to you. Why can’t you see that?” asked Haru. “You’ll only throw away your career if you don’t change your ways,” said Makoto. “And your talent that makes you a star in the first place,” said Matt. “You’ll only taint your fine art” said Yusuke sternly. “Fans? Talent? Inspiration? They mean nothing to me compared to attention, money, and being right. Fame is all about getting ahead of everyone. Without it, I am nothing,” said Shadow Melissa. “You certainly will be nothing once we take it away from you!” said Harry. “As a singer myself, you give us a bad name!” said James. “What a shame. You could have used your career for good with such talent,” said Charlie.

“Melissa, you were the one who scammed Max and took the blame for me! I’m going to make you pay if it's the last thing I do!” exclaimed David. “It’s not my fault if that foolish son of yours falls for me. Besides, everyone falls for my lies, which is how I’ll rule the world with my stardom like a queen who is above everyone!” bragged Shadow Melissa. “Well, it’s time to dethrone you with the truth!” said Tom. “Regardless of your fame or looks, we’re going to stop you!” said Ryuji. “You aren’t pulling the wool over our eyes!” said Morgana.

“Try to stand up to me if you must, but I’ll only break you all apart just like these dolls,” said Shadow Melissa , who summoned vines that resembled poison ivy, which she uses to fight, lashing or slamming them towards the team like whips. She can also use them as barriers to protect herself from attacks. “Everyone, we have to focus on destroying those vines so that we can have an opening!” called Futaba. “Time to do the gardening just like mine!” said Danny as he and the other McBusted boys used their Huehuecóyotl’s Melody Blaster to clear away the vines. “I thought you had a gardener named Keith, Mush,” said Harry, teasing him. “Burning her vines like with her lies!” said Ann, using Carmen’s Maragidyne to burn away a lot of the vines. Others helped out too, including Joker dodging the vines with his hook and slashing them with his knife, and David using Azrael to take out a row of them using Maeigaon.

However, some of them got slammed down by the vines or were caught, causing them to become poisoned upon contact, as said by Futaba, “Oh no! They’re poisonous!” “I don’t feel so good,” said Haru weakly. “Ugh, my head,” moaned Ryuji. “Ugh, let me go!” yelled David as the vines tied him up.  “I feel so drunk men” said Dougie as he was caught in the vines while he was poisoned. “Bleh, it’s like the last time I was hung up,” ranted Matt, who was also bound by the vines. “It’ll be my pleasure to watch you all break down slowly and painfully,” said Shadow Melissa  with a sadistic smile.

“Not if we can help it!” objected Morgana as he and the others helped out their friends including Morgana using Zorro’s Magarudyne to break through the vines and The McBusted boys using their singing voices to heal the poison damage as said by Tom “It would be great if we can use our singing as healing powers in the real world”. “I guess we would give doctors a run for money, but for now, let’s use our singing to lead us to victory!” said Charlie as the McBusted boys powered up their allies with their song for them to deal damage to Shadow Melissa .

“You hit me? You are all so dead!” cried Shadow Melissa, who summoned apples like projectiles, tossing them towards the team who narrowly dodged them with their reflexes. However, it releases toxic gases as soon as the apple-like bombs hit the ground. “What are they? Poison Apples like the ones from stories?” asked Yusuke with surprise. “I wouldn’t want to take a bite out of them,” said James with caution. “I’m getting high toxic reading from them. Don’t breathe it in!” warned Futaba.

“Ha! See if you can get me now,” taunted Shadow Melissa, who fired thorn-like projectiles from her roses towards the team while using the toxic gas to hide herself and her attacks. “Ooo, I bet they would give me splinters,” said Danny, who narrowly dodged the thorn projectiles. “Every rose has its thorns, as they say,” said Morgana. “I can’t see her!” cried Makoto as Joanna’s attacks missed Shadow Melissa because of the toxic mist. “How are we supposed to get to her now?” cried Harry in frustration.

Dougie has an idea. “Let’s clear away the air pollution with our performance!” “Sounds like a wicked idea, Dougie!” cheered Matt as the McBusted boys got out their instruments and used Musical Boomburst to clear away the toxic mist. “Thank goodness, now we don’t have to worry about the toxic gas!” said Ann. The McBusted boys also powered up their allies with their singing.  “Your singing won’t stop me!” cried Shadow Melissa , who threw the poison apple projectiles towards the McBusted boys to interrupt their singing, but David and the Phantom Thieves spotted them and fired their attacks at the poison apple projectiles. In return, the McBusted boys used their Musical Boomburst to repel the toxic mist. “The performance must go on!” said Ren. “You can’t stop us now!” said Tom, and they had an opening to attack Shadow Melissa.

“I am famous, which makes me above everyone!” yelled Shadow Melissa, who summoned tall thorny roses that uprooted from the ground, causing everyone to become separated from each other; meaning that the McBusted boys can’t use Huehuecóyotl’s full powers.  “Geez, it’s like a jungle here!” cried Ryuji as he and the others fought their way through the thorny roses. “I hope my plants don’t become overgrown like this!” said Haru.

“Guys, where are you?!” called Charlie nervously, having to become separated from his band-mates. Shadow Melissa took advantage by attacking them with her thorny projectiles and poison ivy-like vines. The McBusted boys used their telepathic powers to keep in contact with each other. “Guys, I’m here! Stay where you are!” called Danny. “Hold on, I’m right here!” said James. The Phantom Thieves spotted the McBusted boys and helped them to break through the thorny roses using their Personas’ attacks. “We’ll reunite both of your bands!” said Ren. “No bands are complete without each other,” said Yusuke.

However, the Phantom Thieves were also targeted by Shadow Melissa, which hindered them. David used his Azrael to clear away a large amount of thorny roses. The McBusted boys rushed towards each other. “Nothing can ever get between us!” said Matt as they embraced each other. “Yeah, we’re here forever!” said Tom.

David then spotted Shadow Melissa and charged straight to her to make it personal. “Melissa, I’m going to make you feel sorry for what you did to me and my son!” yelled David with his Azrael, attacking Shadow Melissa with his Eigaon.

David, however, got caught by the vines once again, which slammed him onto the ground. “I can make any man fall for me, only for me to break like worthless dolls they are,” said Shadow Melissa as David struggles to break free from the vines that grip him tightly. “There isn’t anyone who’ll believe in you because you’re a man,” said Shadow Melissa with a wicked smile.

Just then, David became freed with the Phantom Thieves cutting the vines with their knives as powered up by the McBusted boy’s singing and the McBusted boys striking Melissa  with their Melody Blaster. David was grateful for them. “We know your lies! You can’t keep on hiding the truth forever!” declared Makoto. “Even if the truth is ugly as you are on the inside!” said Dougie. Shadow Melissa  snarled at them and said, “You all have no right to stand up to me!” She unleashed a barrage of vines that rushed towards them.

“I say let’s finish off the gardening!” said Danny as the McBusted boys countered the vines using their Huehuecóyotl’s Synchronize Symphony with the musical blast attack cutting through the vines, giving the Phantom Thieves an opening to attack Shadow Melissa  who was about to toss her poison apples towards them but David stopped her using his Valeful’s Eigaon. With Shadow Melissa knocked down, Charlie said, “And now for the grand finale!” “My thoughts exactly!” said Morgana, and they all finished her off with an all-out attack. “I have my eyes on you,” said David.

Having to be weakened, Shadow Melissa  tried to trick the team with her crocodile tears, ‘weeping’ “It’s not fair, ganging up on me like that, just like how everyone bullies me with every men use me as their objects, other girls thinks they’re better than me and those queer people get the attention!” Nobody was fooled by Shadow Melissa’s façade, knowing the kind of person she truly was. “Wallow all you want, but it won’t change the fact that you treat other people like garbage!” said Harry, calling her out. “Now you see how people feel when you leave them helpless by your lies?” demanded James.

“It’s not my fault that I am so famous and got myself involved with those scandals! It’s other people who get in the way and fall for me!” wailed Shadow Melissa like a child throwing a tantrum. “Oh boo ho, it doesn’t matter how famous you are! You are a bad person and you know it!” said Ryuji. “Play victim all you want, but it won’t hide the fact about the lives you have with your so-called fame and lies!” cried Ann.  

Shadow Melissa dropped her act and said, “Why is it that you’re all stronger than me? I have all the fame, power, and charms, so none of you should have stood a chance against me, myself and I!” “It’s because we’re not alone, we have not only each other but our fans and loved ones who support us,” answered Danny. “Even though we’re not perfect, whenever we’re facing through darkness or have ideas that can help to reach stardom, we’re there for each other,” added Matt. “Even we Phantom Thieves are not alone, we work as a team to help make a world a better place for society. You only use your fame and others to serve yourself. That’s why you lost,” said Ren.

As the Phantom Thieves gathered Melissa’s medal, David said to Shadow Melissa, “Consider yourself lucky that I’ll be sparing you. I can never forgive you for what you did to my son and how you ruined me. I was planning to eliminate you here and now. But I am better than you. I’ll let you live with your crimes for the rest of your life.” Shadow Melissa said nothing but glared at David as he left with the McBusted boys and The Phantom Thieves, who were making their way out of Melissa ’s palace.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Melissa was sensing that her heart was about to change. “I can’t let anyone find out about me. It’ll be better to bring them down with me than to admit the truth,” said Melissa, who hastily took a sip of poison. She fell on the ground, seemingly lifeless. This caused her palace to collapse. “What’s going on?  Is this an earthquake?” said Dougie as the palace was shaking. “No! Melissa  must be planning to take us down with her!” cried Morgana as everyone ran frantically towards the exit with the walls crumbling and the ground is shaking.

Just as they were near the exit, large debris fell from the ceiling, cutting off David and the Phantom Thieves from the McBusted boys. “No! Rockers!” yelled Futuba as the McBusted boys were blocked by the debris. “Is this it?” cried Charlie fearfully. “At least we’re in this together, guys!” cried Tom as they all hugged each other them seemingly doomed. They were about to get crushed by a large debris, but it became shattered into pieces with David saving them, using Azrael to attack the debris, including those that blocked their path. “Come on, guys, you all have a career to get back to,” said David as the Phantom Thieves grabbed their hands to help them get out of the debris.

They were all able to make their escape just in time. “Phew, that was close,” said Futaba with relief as everyone returned to the real world. “Thanks for saving our bacon back there, especially you David,” said Dougie. “Don’t mention it, though my son would be happy with me,” said David. “In any case, we all made it out together,” said Danny, smiling. “And now we wait until the whole world knows the truth,” said Makoto. Elsewhere, Melissa woke up.

It wasn’t long until Melissa made an announcement that was broadcast all over the world, with Melissa  tearfully confessing all of her crimes, including her false allegations and abuse, exposing all of her lies and wrongdoings over the years, much to everyone’s shock, including her fans everywhere. As a result, her charges against the McBusted boys were dropped, and her career was in shambles.

Having their names cleared, the McBusted boys thanked the Phantom Thieves. “We all can’t thank you, Phantom Thieves, for doing a lot for us,” said Tom with relief. “We couldn’t have done it without you all,” said Charlie. “We are glad to help out a big group like you all,” said Haru. “But it was you all who played a big role with that Persona of yours too, using its power to turn things around when it seems impossible,” said Yusuke, praising them. “I know, it’s like the power we had inside of us that we didn’t know about,” said James.

Just then, Takeru showed up, saying his thanks to the McBusted boys the other day and apologized for getting them involved. “It was weak of me to run away and leave you all to take the blame back there,” said Takeru. “No, it wasn’t your fault. We’re glad that you’re alright, and we couldn’t leave you there” said Danny, reassuring him. “Remember to be proud of who you are and don’t let anyone say otherwise,” said Charlie. Takeru thanked them once again and made his leave.

“Well, I suppose there are still some celebrities who can do good,” said David, who also gives them their thanks, added that meeting them has opened his eyes. He said that he’ll return the comatose celebrity souls that Azrael has stolen and will turn himself in to atone for his crimes. “Remember to keep yourself out of trouble,” said Harry, teasing him. “Yeah, or we’ll give you the calling card,” said Morgana. David smiled at them and left the group.

Afterwards, Matt said to the Phantom Thieves, “We’ve been thinking about what our shadow selves said to us. I guess it shows that we still have a lot to work on to get past our trauma and our darker sides.” “Yeah, no celebrities are perfect, and we have a lot of growing to do,” said Dougie. “We believe in you all, and your actions show it,” said Ann softly. “Remember to keep on inspiring the world with your passion and talent, and we’ll be rooting for you all, no matter where we are in the world,” said Ren supportively. “Thanks, and we all believe that you Phantom Thieves are the real heroes who make the world a better place,” said Danny. “Giving others a voice and standing up to those who need it,” said James. The Phantom Thieves were grateful to hear that. "I'll remember you as the Rocking Feathermen!" said Futaba brightly. 

The McBusted boys and The Phantom Thieves bid their farewell as they went on their separate ways, with The McBusted boys cotinuing their tour and exploring more of Japan’s attractions before turning to their home country. Their meeting with The Phantom Thieves and awakening their Persona has been an adventure for them that’ll help them to become even better, and something that they won’t ever forget.

McBusted X Persona 5 Melody of Truth Chapter 4 - A clash of vengeance, rebellion, justice and truth

Here is chapter 4 of my McBusted and Persona 5 crossover story where the McBusted boys team up with the Phantom Thieves to clear their names featuring guest star David Platt from Coronation Street. 

The McBusted boys and the Phantom Thieves were confronted by David Platt who had a personal issue with Melissa and is set to fight them using his Persona. Enjoy and stay tuned for more.

Chapter 4 - A clash of vengeance, rebellion, justice and truth

Despite being out numbered, David Platt and Azrael were proved to be too much for The McBusted Boys and The Phantom Thieves with Azrael’s powerful dark affinity skills including his Maeigaon that hits everyone at once and Magatsu Mandala (with David using his eyes while summoning the attack) which can cause those who got caught in the attack to become fearful (Haru helped to smoothie their fear with her Amrita Drop skill). “Just what is this power of his?” said Futaba nervously. “So this is the Platt Stare they were talking about?” asked Dougie.

The McBusted boys tried to help with their Huehuecóyotl’s musical skills, but David attacks them with Azrael’s Magatsu Mandala, which forces them to separate, weakening Huehuecóyotl’s powers. “You all are no match for my powers, punishing celebrities who plague our world just because they’re famous!” said David as he targets The McBusted boys using Eigaon. The McBusted boys tried to fight back, but with them separated from each other, they weren’t strong enough.

The Phantom Thieves helped to protect them, as suggested by Futaba. “I won’t let you all fall!” said Ren, using his Arsène to counter Azrael’s attacks with his Curse moves to protect Tom. Ann uses Carman’s Agidyne to protect Danny in a veil of fire from Azrael’s attacks, Yusuke uses Goemon’s Mabufudyne to freeze the attacks that were aiming at James, Ryuji uses Captain Kidd’s Headbutt to charge towards Azrael when he was about to physically attack Matt, Morgana uses Zorro’s Diarahan to heal the damage that Harry took, Matoko helps to cure Charlie’s fear with her Johanna’s Energy Shower, and Haru protects Dougie from Azrael’s Magatsu Mandala by using Milady’s Mapsio to shield him.

This helped the McBusted to regroup with each other while The Phantom Thieves protected them and kept David busy, even if he is still a tough opponent for them. They rushed towards each other with Matt saying with relief, “Guys, I’m glad we’re in one piece.” “Thank goodness, but we need to help those Phantom Thieves,” said Danny with concern as David was overwhelming them. “If only we were as strong as them” said Dougie. “We may not be as strong, but let’s focus on our strength with what we can do as musicians,” said James. “Right, I’m with you. Let's show that we can inspire others with our music!” said Tom as the McBusted played their instruments to heal and power up the Phantom Thieves with manifesting their powers.

“Thanks! It’s what I needed!” said Haru, who was healed by their singing. “This is music to my ears!” said Ann as she was powered up, allowing Carmen to hit hard. “Once again, we’re glad to make use of our performance,” said Charlie modestly.  “Your songs aren’t half bad, but I have to silence all of you for your own good!” said David, using Azrael’s Magatsu Mandala to separate them again. “You can’t stop us now!” said Harry as Huehuecóyotl protected them and the Phantom Thieves with a veil of musical notes that served as a shield. “Using art to protect oneself; now that is something that I haven’t heard of” said Yusuke as he was observing the musical note barrier like fine art.

“No matter how talented or popular you are, I can’t allow you celebrities to do whatever you please!” said David with Azrael firing Maeigaon onto the ground, which causes the team to fell with the barrier fading away.

The McBusted boys were still close together, with each of them sharing their determination to fight for The Phantom Thieves and each other. “Guys, no matter what happens, I’m with you,” said Danny as they all warmly looked at each other. “We’re here forever, inspiring others with what we love doing best!” said Tom as the McFly boys use their Huehuecóyotl summoned Psy spheres made out of musical notes, which landed on David. Everyone was astonished that they were able to successfully use an offensive move for the first time, which was made possible for their love of their passion and each other. “Ha! How do you like them apples?” boasted Harry. “Good for you to pull off an attack like that!” said Ren as he and the others struck David while he was done. “Allow me to call this one Melody Blaster!” said Dougie.

As David got up, his Azrael unleashed his Eigaon towards them. “We may have had our difficulties...” said Charlie. “...But music is what brings us together!” said Matt as the Busted boys played their guitars and bass for the Huehuecóyotl to unleash a large Psy shockwave that cuts through the attack. “Now that’s great use of your instruments!” cheered Futaba with the Phantom Thieves following up their attack on David. “I like to call this one Musical Boomburst!” said James.

Striking back, David once again tried to separate the McBusted boys but they use their telepathic powers to keep each other close  by forewarning each other on when they were about to be attacked , locating each other if they got separated or provide moral support (e.g.  Danny telepathy asking Dougie if he is ok, James forewarning Matt that he was about to get attacked and Charlie letting Tom and Harry know that he is nearby) . The Phantom Thieves also continued to protect them with help from the McBusted boys now that they can use Huehuecóyotl’s offensive attacks effectively (while still powering them up with their music).

Finding himself at a disadvantage, David cried, “I cannot afford to lose! Not with those corrupt celebrities running wild!” In desperation to take them all out, his Azrael unleashed his Mamudo towards the group. The McBusted boys combined their performance together for Huehuecóyotl to unleash a Psy explosion using Synchronize Symphony, causing David to become knocked down. “That’s it! Now’s our chance!” said Morgana as they charged towards David for an all-out attack. “Feel our passion!” said The McBusted boys in unison as they held their instruments.

Having to remain victorious, the McBusted boys and The Phantom Thieves approached a defeated David lying on the floor. “I had this power, yet all this time, I was all alone. You McBusted boys and Phantom Thieves have each other, which is why I lost,” said David, lamenting his defeat. Even if they disagreed with his methods, they all had some sympathy for him. “You are not alone, David. Melissa  has wronged us, too,” said Dougie as they all helped to pick him up. “That’s right, and we can all stand up to Melissa together”, said Ren. “And that is by changing her heart”, added Morgana.

“Tell me, I was wrong, wasn’t I?” asked David. “You’re not totally wrong. We get that some famous people take advantage of their fame,” said Makoto gently. “But there are still many good celebrities out there who inspire hearts. You gotta focus on these ones,” added Matt. “Yeah, we help our fans to be happy, donate to lots of charities and stood up to a fan who had been wronged by Melissa  earlier”, said Tom.

 “No celebrities are perfect; they’re just as flawed as ordinary people, which makes them human”, said James. “Yeah, even we make mistakes or hurt others, but what matters is that we learn from them and take responsibility for our actions to make us grow for the better”, said Danny. “Give the good ones a chance to learn and grow while only condemn the ones that are bad,” said Yusuke. “This reminds me of one of our songs from our Young Dumb Thrills album”, said Harry.

“In any case, you don’t have to do this alone. We are willing to help you and your son,” said Charlie. “And for the sake of those who have suffered from Melissa ’s actions”, said Ann. David warmed up to their kind words, realizing that not all celebrities are bad and said, “I guess it’s good of my son to get into your music.” “Once again, he has good taste”, said Danny, smiling. David has joined the team to stop Melissa , but without resorting to extreme measures. Futaba has given him a code name: Eyes. “I suppose it’s fitting, I guess”, said David awkwardly.

 After David handed over the key, the group opened the door and found a cloud of rainbow mist in the shape of a medal, resembling the one that she won for a singing contest. The room has all kinds of toxic substances. “So is this the treasure?” asked Charlie. “I don’t see anything”, said James, who is perplexed. “It won’t appear physically unless we make Melissa  feel threatened that her treasure, which represents her desire, is going to get stolen”, answered Morgana. “And we can do that by sending her the calling card in the real world”, said Ren. “Ooo, can I come up with a calling card?” asked Dougie. “Oh no, you don’t!” said Tom, knowing that Dougie was far from a suitable candidate. “You can leave this one to me”, said Yusuke. “I trust you, Phantom Thieves, to do your thing”, said David, and they got back to the real world in preparation for the calling card and their heist. “All this Persona and Phantom Thief; it’s been an incredible experience”, said Danny as he took it all in. “Yeah, though more importantly, we’re going to get back at Melissa  for giving us pop stars a bad name!” said Harry. “I say that we all make a great team!” said Haru. “You bet, but we owe it to you all”, said Matt. “And now we wait for Melissa to receive the calling card”, said Futaba.

McBusted X Persona 5 Melody of Truth Chapter 3 - Beginning of a heist with secrets and revenge

Here is chapter 3 of my McBusted and Persona 5 crossover story where the McBusted boys team up with the Phantom Thieves to clear their names featuring guest star David Platt from Coronation Street. 

Having to awaken their Persona, the McBusted boys explores Melissa's Palace with the Phantom Thieves helping them to fight with their Persona while finding out about Melissa's dark secrets. However, they are being watched by someone. Enjoy and stay tuned for more.

Chapter 3 - Beginning of a heist with secrets and revenge 

Having to awaken their Persona, the McBusted boys teamed up with the Phantom Thieves to fight the shadows that roam around Melissa ’s palace. To start things off, the McBusted boys asked the Phantom Thieves what they do.

“What we do as Phantom Thieves is that we enter the palace that is formed in the Metaverse by people’s manifestation based on their dark desires or negative emotions,” explained Morgana. “We have to find and take their treasure that represents their corrupted desires in order for them to confess their crimes, whereas they would refuse to do so in real life,” added Ren. “It’s the only way for us to stand up against these corrupted adults and to change society,” said Ryuji. “Trust us, we have been wronged by those adults before, so we have to take matters into our own hands when we have no one else to turn to,” added Ann solemnly.

The McBusted boys understood and sympathised with their intentions. “It sounds brave of you all to fight back,” said Tom with admiration. “Yeah, it’s sad to hear that there are some nasty people in the world,” said Danny sadly. “I guess it’s our only way to stop Melissa  before she makes us the bad guys just for standing up to her,” Dougie said somberly. “We all saw what happened. I couldn’t leave you all to take the blame. I know what it’s like to take the blame for doing the right thing,” said Ren with sympathy, referring to the time when he was accused of assaulting the politician Masayoshi Shido, who was harassing a woman.  

The McBusted boys appreciated Ren for that. “Thanks, we’re just a super group doing what we love doing best,” said James gratefully. “By joining you, Phantom Thieves is our way of repaying you all now that we have our Persona,” said Matt.

“But first, we have to come up with codenames for you all. It’s how we refer to each other while in the Metaverse to keep ourselves anonymous. Mine is Oracle” said Futuba. The other Phantom Thieves added that Ren is Joker, Morgana is Mona, Ryuji is Skull, Ann is Panther, Yusuke is Fox, Makoto is Queen and Haru is Noir.

The McBusted boys were intrigued by coming up with their codenames. “Now this sounds fun. I could be called Rhino, just like how Danny and I were disguised as in The Masked Singer, with Danny dressed up as a Piranha,” suggested Charlie. Danny smiled at Charlie’s suggestion. “I failed to see how your outfits resemble such beasts,” said Yusuke sceptically. “I could be called Drummer while the rest of you get to be referred as singers,” said Harry, teasing them. “Oh please, you’re not the boss of us,” said James mockingly, though they were having trouble coming up with codenames.

“What about D-Dog for me while Tom gets to be called T-Bag?” suggested Danny. “I would keep our nicknames out of this, thank you very much,” said Tom. “How about The Pooping Dinosaurs?” said Dougie, who, not so surprisingly, comes up with inappropriate suggestions. “What? What kind of codename is that?!” said Ryuji with Danny, Harry, James, and Matt sniggering while Tom and Charlie blushed in disbelief. “Maybe The Kitty...Kats,” said Matt, who was running out of ideas.

“Oh come on, this is taking too long!” cried Makoto. “Then I’ll settle this; I’ll call you all Rockers since you are all a band after all,” said Futuba. She also suggested that they could also be referred to by their outfit colours, which goes as follows: Danny as Rocker-G, Tom as Rocker-Y, James and Rocker-I, Charlie as Rocker-P, Dougie as Rocker-R, Matt as Rocker-O, and Harry as Rocker-B. The McBusted boys agreed with that, as said by Tom, “Come to think of it, we do dress up like those Power Rangers.” “I see a splitting image of the Phoenix Ranger Feathermen” said Yusuke.

With that out of the way, the Phantom Thieves were ready to show The McBusted boys how they fight. “As you all have witnessed, we call our Persona to fight these Shadows,” said Ren who summoned Arsène, who took out the snowmen like Shadows known as Jack Frosts using Eiha. “Calling upon our other self!” said Morgana, helping out Ren, who summoned his Persona Zorro, who blew away with Jack Frosts using Magaru.

The Phantom Thieves also showed how they explore palaces and other skills with their aerobatic abilities, leaping to high areas with their grappling hooks and taking out enemies with their guns. “It’s how we get around huge palaces like this one,” explained Ann. The McBusted boys were intrigued throughout. “Let me try reaching that castle! I have been working out and getting all this energy for my shows after all!” said Danny eagerly as he attempted to leap up to a castle wall, only for him to miss and crash into Tom, knocking them both onto the ground. “Well, that was sloppy yet typical of you Danny,” said Tom, though they all see the funny side of it and laugh with Danny and Tom looking at each other with joy and affection. “I guess you need a little more work,” said Haru, giggling.

“There are some enemies. Why don’t you give your Persona a try?” asked Ren to Dougie and Harry, who were nearby. “Now watch the experts!” said Dougie.”Witness the greatest power from the Rhythm Duo!” bragged Harry (with him willing to do it with Dougie) as they summoned Huehuecóyotl, who unleashed some PSI musical notes projectiles towards the Jack Frosts, but they missed and almost hit Ryuji and Morgana by mistake. “Now that was a blast!” boasted Harry. “What’s the big idea?!” yelled Ryuji as he angrily fired his Captain Kidd’s Mazio at Dougie and Harry. “You both could have gotten us killed!” cried Morgana who commanded Zorro to attack them with his Magaru. “Finally, something you both can agree on” muttered Makoto.

The Busted trio were having trouble against the Jack Frosts, who kept on getting frozen by their Mabufu. “Never thought my career would involve getting frozen by these snowmen,” said James, shivering. “Rockers, you gotta fight back!” called Futuba.  Yusuke and the others have to help them out, with Yusuke saying, “Fighting with ice, I guess,” with his Goemon blocking Jack Frosts’ Mabufu with his own Mabufu. “How do you fight Futuba?” asked Charlie. “My Persona isn’t made for fighting. I act as the navigator to provide you all assistance, including finding enemies’ weaknesses and to warn you all of any danger,” replied Futuba. “Sounds like you have it easy just sitting back,” said Matt who sounds like he was getting worn down. “Hey, I have to work hard to guide you all to victory, you know!” answered Futuba crossly.

Although The McBusted boys lack the experience fighting with their Persona, they were able to make up for it by using their Persona’s ability and their musician talent to aid the Phantom Thieves including the McBusted boys getting out their instruments to sing their songs and summon Huehuecóyotl who helped to manifest their singing voices and the sound from their guitars, bass and drums into power to heal or power up the Phantom Thieves.

“Wow, those songs of yours have given us power,” said Ren with fascination as Arsène became powered up, which helped him to take out the multiple snake shadow Yamata-no-Orochi with his Maelga. “Your singing makes me feel so much better,” said Haru cheerfully, who became healed from the damage she took while fighting the Yamata-no-Orochi. “It makes me feel energized, just like from your show earlier!” said Morgana excitedly as he used the extra speed boost to dodge the attacks.  “Thanks for enjoying our performance!” cheered Danny. “It’s what we do best,” said James. “Nice that we’re making use of our talent,” said Charlie admirably.

They can also use their singing ability to lure enemies or cause random effects, including sleep or dizziness. “Now that is like the Pied Pipers from earlier,” said Makoto as she witnessed the Shadows luring towards The McBusted boy’s singing voices as if they were in a hypnotic trance. “At least we don’t have to fight them,” said Futuba as the Phantom Thieves took out the shadows, taking advantage of this. “I guess they couldn’t resist our singing!” laughed Tom.

“Bet our performance was too much for it!” said Matt as he witnessed several Succubus becoming dizzy from their song. “Just like our trick, especially from me, of course,” boasted Harry. “Night, don’t let the bed bugs bite!” taunted Dougie after the Maras fell asleep from their song. “Such fascination using your singing abilities to fight!” said Ann as she and the others took out the shadows.

The McBusted boys can also use Huehuecóyotl’s musical abilities offensively as well as some psychokinesis attacks as manifested from the McBusted boy’s PSI abilities (which they learned some time ago) although they were still having some trouble getting to fight the shadow as they missed their attacks or their attacks were not strong enough so the Phantom Thieves have to do the fighting for them. “Can we become stronger?” asked Charlie doubtfully. “Don’t worry about it, you’ll get used to it,” said Makoto genteelly. “Just think of it as band practice,” said Ryuji. “That’s one way to put it,” said Tom, agreeing with this. “Yep, going to keep resilient to failure and don’t give up, just like what I’ve been telling aspiring young musicians,” said Danny with optimism. “We’ll keep on fighting by your sides,” said Ren.  

Also, the McBusted boys have to stick closely together to use their Persona ability effectively. This was shown during a fight against a Queen Mab who attacked them with its electrical attack, Mazlonga, which caused them to become separated as they fell on their backs far apart from each other. Although they can still summon Huehuecóyotl, their powers and singing abilities weren’t as strong (their voices or their instruments weren’t able to reach to the Phantom Thieves or have an effect on the shadows). This shows that they needed each other as a band, let alone a supergroup.

Having to become separated, the McBusted boys became surrounded by shadows, which made them uneasy, but the Phantom Thieves helped to clear them out. The McBusted boys ran up to their nearest band mate, comforted for each other’s safety. “Dougie! Matt! I’m glad you’re safe!” said Danny with relief as soon as he reached Dougie and Matt. “Yeah, I thought we were toasted for sure,” said Dougie as the trio gazed at each other for reassurance and adoration. “I can’t do this alone without you all,” said Matt as they smiled and affectionately held onto their elbows and hands.

Charlie helped to pick James up. “Why, thank you, Charlie, so generous of you,” said James as he got up. “Anytime for you James,” said Charlie as they held each other tightly with their eyes gazing on each other.

With the McBusted boys back together, they were able to use their abilities to help the Phantom Thieves fight. Tom said to Harry, “Great to do this with you,” said Tom. “Same here Tom, always,” said Harry as they both warmly stroked each other’s chins. The Phantom Thieves were happy to witness their love for each other and to safety reunite them.

With the shadow knocked down by the Phantom Thieves with help from the McBusted boys’ singing powers, Morgana said to the McBusted boys, “This is where we finish off our enemies together using an all-out attack!” “Now this sounds exciting!” said Matt, who was intrigued. “Just follow our league as we don’t hold back!” said Ryuji, who was getting ready to lunge at the downed enemies. “Now we ravage them!” said Joker, and they all charged into the enemies, darting about everywhere. Even the McBusted boys were able to pull it off successfully. “Now that was thrilling...and something that we can do right,” said Dougie after the execution.

They still have a way to go, but for now, the group was able to proceed ahead with Morgana transforming into his van form to help the group get around Melissa ’s mansion more quickly. The McBusted boys were surprised to see such a transformation. “Whoa! You can transform into a van?!” said Danny with surprise. “It happened to be one of my specialities, which is how we navigate the Metaverse,” explained Morgana. “It really beats setting on foot,” said Ann.  “You know, this reminds me of this anime that my kids have been watching,” said Charlie. “Well, hop right in and enjoy the ride!” said Ryuji. As they all got in, Harry said, “I would have thought that the seats would be softer like cat fur.” “Oh shut up,” muttered Morgana with annoyance and drove off. Little do they know that another masked figure with a Persona was watching them.

The Phantom Thieves and The McBusted boys explored more of Melissa ’s Mansion, which consists of large rooms with lots of trophies and expensive furniture. “I can tell that Melissa  has achieved a lot,” said Tom as he looked around the trophy room with wonder. “It’s that or she likes to show off,” said Ryuji.

Just then, the medal room shows a cognitive memory of her past, as said by James, “Looks like we’re watching a movie of her life,” said James. “It must be a cognitive fragment of her past,” added Morgana. The cognitive memory shows a young Melissa  being bored, trying to find a way to get attention. She was able to come up with ways to gain attention by singing and dressing up to make her eye-catching, as shown when a lot of grownups gathered around, admiring her singing and outfit. There’s one point when she was given a medal for a singing contest. “Now that looks like an admirable memory,” said Matt with astonishment.

Shortly afterwards, the cognitive memory has also shown Melissa  causing all sorts of mischief at school, including drawing on the wall or breaking toys and blaming it on other students, causing them to get into trouble. When the accused students tried to claim that Melissa did it, the teachers didn’t believe them because of Melissa’s acting and looking innocent. Melissa finds that she craves for attention by not only having the potential talent that could lead her to fame and having the looks, but by lying and getting away with it, giving her the thrills. Once the cognitive memory ended, Yusuke said with disproval “It seems like she’s the kind who lets fame and looks get over her head”. “Looks like she’s not as innocent since her childhood,” said Harry.

They then went into another room that contained ragdolls that resembled men stuffed in bins. “Hey, are they supposed to be men whom she has previously dated but has abused her?” asked Haru.

They were then shown cognitive memories that show Melissa’s dark secrets. “Hey, does she know that she’s here?” asked Dougie nervously. “No, that’s another cognition of her memories,” answered Ren. It shows Melissa  dating multiple men in a seemingly happy relationship. However, in reality, Melissa  has been abusing the men she has been dating, including hitting them whenever they make a mistake (including accidentally spilling a drink on her dress), treating them like garbage (such as pushing them down the stairs), saying abusive, hurtful insults and advancing herself on them even if they refused too.

If that wasn’t bad enough, she lies about the abusive relationship, claiming that she’s the victim, pretending to look vulnerable and cry to get the public on her side. This causes the public to rally their anger on the men she scapegoats in real life and online, resulting in the men she’s dating committing suicide. The only reason for Melissa to date those men was for frame or money, dumping them once she was done or bored with them.

One example shown was when one of the men she dated begged her, “How could you do this to me? I did everything you said to help with your career, and now I’m ruined. Please tell them the truth!” “As if anyone will believe you because you are a man. After all, everyone falls for me because I am so pretty and innocent,” said Melissa  mockingly.

Once the cognitive memory ended, everyone was shocked by what they had seen. “That....that’s horrible,” said Danny, who looked pale. “That poor man...” said Haru tearfully. “To receive unwarranted attention is bad enough, but to lie about it...!” said Ann with anger. “To think that there are famous people like her,” said Charlie in disbelief, with the McBusted boys holding their hands tightly with comfort.

They went into another room with showed a lot of voodoo dolls with pins on them. Many of them resembled girls. Everyone was crept out with the unnerving sight, as said by Makoto, “I dread to think what this represents.” “Yeah, I don’t think it’s going to be pretty,” said Tom nervously as another cognitive memory appeared, showing Melissa  witnessing other female idols with contempt, seeing them as threats, especially if they looked prettier than her or happened to have more talent. To that end, she anonymously sends them abusive messages (saying that they have no talent and should give up on their career), spreads rumours, drags them into her drama, and makes herself the victim or finds out about their past mistakes, leaking and exaggerating them to expose them. This causes them to end their career and/or commit suicide, which, to her eyes, knocks them out of the competition.

Melissa  is also known to get into fights with those she disagrees with, including with LGBTQ+ lifestyle, claiming that loving the same or multiple genders is wrong, that those with different pronouns are abnormal, and transgender people are predatory. True to her nature, she refuses to consider other people’s opinions but hers and blames on others for bullying her just for having an opinion.

Once the cognitive memory was finished, Matt bluntly said “Well, she may look angelic on the outside, but she’s truly the devil on the inside.” “So those stories of people giving her a hard time were a lie!” said Futuba appallingly. “To be jealous is one thing, but to ruin their career just for the competition is too far!” said James with condemnation. “I love that she uses the ‘it’s my opinion’ card, though she’s a bigot and a monster anyway,” said Dougie scornfully. “What a pity for her to let fame get over her head,” said Morgana with disapproval.  “We can’t let any more people suffer and take the blame. She has to be stopped!” declared Ren. Everyone agreed and set off to find her treasure.

The McBusted boys and The Phantom Thieves approached the locked door. Futuba then said out loud “Oh, I am detecting that behind the door is where Melissa ’s treasure is located.” “Well then, I guess we’ll have to find the key to open the door,” said Ryuji. “Then once we find it, our names will be cleared and we should bring her down to justice, right?” asked Harry.

Ren however, felt that they were being watched. He looked over his shoulder and spotted an incoming attack. “Everyone get down!” he warned, and they all quickly ducked from the attack. They all got up and saw a young man in a crimson and black thief outfit. Right next to him is a demonic entity. “If you’re thinking of stealing Melissa ’s treasure, then you all should step aside and let me be the one to deal with this personally,” said the man. “And who are you?!” demanded Ann. “Is he a Persona user?” said Morgana with surprise.

The McBusted boys, however, recognised him. “Hey, you’re David Platt, whom we met at our Meet and Greet, aren’t you?” asked Danny. David seemed surprised that they saw right through his mask and said, “You see through my eyes, haven’t you McBusted Boys? But like with Melissa , I’m going to have to stop you all, along with all the other celebrities, before they corrupt society.” “What? What have we done wrong that makes us just as bad as Melissa ?” demanded Dougie. “Yeah, we’re the ones who have been wronged by Melissa , so shouldn’t we team up together?” argued Matt. “That doesn’t change the fact that you pop stars and celebrities are as bad as each other; using your so-called fame to get away with your wrong doings,” answered David, glaring at them, which gives everyone nervous vibes.

The Phantom Thieves just realised something. “Hold on, we’ve been hearing about celebrities worldwide going comatose. Was this your doing?” asked Makoto.  “You Phantom Thieves figured this one out. It’s all to put celebrities to justice using this Persona of mine, Azrael. I hunt them down by infiltrating their palace with Azrael reaping their souls,” said David. “As a pop star myself, I get that there are some famous people who need to be stopped for their wrongdoings, but why would you go through such extreme lengths?” asked Charlie.

David explained that he had an encounter with Melissa , who visited his country as part of her tour. His adopted son, Max, has been a fan of her and even he got into her with her songs and charms. But that is until he found out that she has been grooming Max to giving her money (taking advantage of the fact that he finds her good looking). When David confronted Melissa, she spread a rumour that David had assaulted her, which caused people to accuse him of hitting an international star.

Because of that incident, David gained a hated for celebrities, vowing to take them all down to justice. His desire of revenge is how his Persona Azrael has drawn into him, claiming that he can lend him his power to fulfil his desire. From this point on, David has been looking up on incidents and scandals that celebrities were involved in, which later escalated to whenever they make 'minor mistakes', including being politically wrong, making insensitive jokes and other trivial mishaps. He then enters their palace and takes down their shadow self with Azrael stealing their souls to power itself up, causing them to fall into a coma. He added that it’s to build up his powers before getting his revenge on Melissa  and then any other celebrities who he deems are corrupt or morally wrong. “This world is full of corrupt celebrities, and I’ll be the one to deliver justice to them,” said David.

Although The McBusted boys and The Phantom Thieves felt sorry for what he had gone through and understood his reasons, they knew that he was going too far, especially with him going after those who are ‘flawed’, rather than ‘bad’. “We get that there are many famous people who are corrupt, but we can’t allow you to hunt them down like that,” said Yusuke. “Yeah, it’ll make you no different to those corrupted celebrities, including Melissa,” said James.

“But isn’t that what you Phantom Thieves do? Don’t you all stand up to those corrupted adults to make your society a better place?” asked David. “We only do it because we have no other choice than for the sake it” answered Ren. “I get that you and your son were the victims, but please hear us out; you’ll only end up losing your way as you become blind with your definition of justice,” said Haru with some sorrow. “We Phantom Thieves go after anyone regardless of their stats, treating everyone as equals as long as they’re corrupt,” said Ryuji. “You must also remember that even if there are celebrities who are bad, there are still some who are good, including those who use their career to inspire others.  Generalising them will only make you no better,” said Danny trying to reason with David.

“You McBusted boys are not the ones to talk like you Tom. Didn’t you and your wife scam someone by the government scheme? And you, Charlie, you had a fight with The Rock on your social media, didn’t you? And some of you have been taking drugs and alcohol, so I’m going to have to stop you all too,” argued David.  “That was a mistake from Giovanna and me, not a deliberate scam. We wouldn’t do such thing!” said Tom. “You may not be wrong about that, but I’m over it by now,” said Charlie sternly. “And we have changed from that, but even then, it shouldn’t be your business but ours!” said Harry.

“It seems that you all can’t comprehend. I guess I’ll have to stop you all here and now,” said David, who got out a key, much to their surprise. “Let us see whose conviction is greater. If you all win, then I’ll let you all have the key that’ll lead you all to her treasure. Otherwise, I’ll take matters into my own hands and deal with her myself,” said David. “I guess we have no choice but to stop you,” said Ren as they were ready to battle him.

Having to be threatened to be framed by Melissa, the McBusted boys and The Phantom Thieves meet each other in Melissa's palace, only for the McBusted boys to encounter with their darker sides. Enjoy and stay tuned for more. 

McBusted X Persona 5 Melody of Truth 

Chapter 2 - I'll face myself 

The Phantom Thieves (who are now wearing their Phantom Thieves outfits and Morgana becoming a small, anthropomorphic cat) have arrived in the Metaverse, which takes the form of a palace that has been manifested by Melissa’s distorted heart; resembling a huge fairy tale castle, as said by a surprised Ryuji, “Woah! Are we in some kind of fairy tale?” “Who’s the fairest of them all?” said Haru, using humour as her way to react to an unexpected visit to a palace.

“It’s certainly no fairy tale with this being a palace belonging to Melissa Liher,” said Futuba, analysing the place.  “I wouldn’t be surprised, considering what we have witnessed...but what about those supposed stories about her being harassed?” said Ann. “I have a feeling that there may be something more to those stories...but first, we've got to find those McBusted boys. I saw them entering the Metaverse,” said Ren. “I hope they’re ok, especially after the ordeal,” said Makoto worriedly. “They could be in great danger with all these shadows about,” said Morgana with concern, and they searched around the castle-like area.

It didn’t take them long to find the McBusted boys, who were trapped in jail, discussing among themselves. “Where are we? What is this place?” asked Matt nervously.  “It seems that we’re in jail, where we belong,” said Dougie grimly. “It seems that our tour in Japan is turning into a nightmare,” said Charlie as he looked around the dark, distorted world that is making him feel uneasy. “Don’t say that! We've got to find a way out of here!” cried Harry.

They then spotted The Phantom Thieves approaching them with Ren saying, “Hey, you all, are you the guys from McFly and Busted?” “Why yes, that’s us formed together as McBusted. Are you all here to get us out?” asked Danny. “Yes, we are The Phantom Thieves, and you can leave this to us!” said Ren as they summoned a spiritual entity that represented their other self, known as a Persona, using it to break through the jail bars to free the McBusted boys. They were astonished to see their Personas.

“Whoa, what are those otherworldly beings? Are you Phantom Thieves superpowered or something?” asked Tom. “They are what we call a Persona,” explained Ren. “It’s our other self that we use to fight shadows that make themselves at home,” added Morgana. “Wait, did that cat talk?” asked Dougie as he and the others were surprised to see a talking cat. “Hey, don’t call me that!” said Morgana in annoyance.

“Well, anyway, thanks for busting us out of jail. We literally got busted,” said James, changing the subject. “We couldn’t let you pop stars get stuck here,” said Haru. “Please, I request that you all stick with us as we get you all out of here,” said Makoto. “We appreciate it, but can any of you tell us what this place is and what’s going on?” asked Harry.

But before any of the Phantom Thieves can explain the situation, they can hear ominous voices that said, “There is no point escaping this. Deep down, you all know that you are not worthy of sticking with your lousy bands, so you might as well accept the punishment you’re about to face.” “What? Who’s there?” asked Danny nervously. “Hold on, I am suddenly detecting a number of hostile shadows,” said Futaba with alarm. “Who are we, you ask? We are you!” said the voices as shadowy figures had appeared in front of them that took the form of the McBusted boys, much to everyone’s shock and confusion, especially with the McBusted boys themselves.

“Who are you all? Why do you all look like us?!” demanded Danny. “Didn’t you hear me, you Dimwit?! I said that I am you! You act all bubbly while hiding the fact that you resent your Father for leaving you and your Mother. You hate your good-for-nothing father for causing your anxiety while being forced to be the Father figure for your family when you should have been having the time of your life as a pop star!” said Shadow Danny broodingly.

“Hello Tom, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? You pretend that you’re having the time of your life as a band, whereas it’s all a lie. Deep down, you are all jealous of each other, with you taking everything out on your bandmates. Nothing is going right with your band, and your darker side knows it,” said Shadow Tom menacingly.

“You need to face the fact that nobody can stand your sense of humour on your socials, which makes you an ass, especially to those McFly fans who take their anger out on you for taking McFly away!” said Shadow James. “And you, you left Busted because you hate being labelled as a boy band, which doesn’t suit you. Admit it that you’re denying yourself having to reunite with Busted when you are better off sucking it!” claimed Shadow Charlie.

The McBusted boys were hurt to hear the cruel words from their shadow selves. “No! That’s not true! We have all gone past that, and you know it!” screamed Tom in denial. “Yeah, I have a lot figured out now!” argued Charlie. “As if you truly know us!” yelled James. “Duh, we are you! Try all you want to fight your addiction, but that won’t change the fact that you were once an addict, which always makes you an addict. Sooner or later, you’re going to relapse, so there’s no point fighting it,” said Shadow Matt gloomily. “No...I won’t!” protested Matt.

“You have the need to become the best at everything, which makes you an ass, especially since nobody pays attention to a drummer. They prefer the main vocalists, which is why you cause some extra attention for yourself!” said Shadow Harry. “Shut up! You’re not the one to defy who I am!” objected Harry.

“And you, you like to run with your mouth and do things out of impulse, which gets you and your band into trouble. Look what got to you and your bandmates when you stood up to Melissa  for doing the right thing. Your career is about to end, which is the fault of your own!” taunted Shadow Dougie.  The Shadow counterparts then said in union “All of you use your career and popularity as an excuse to hide your pitiful selves. It’s much easier to escape with your stardom than to face yourselves!” “No! You are not me! All of you freaky twins of ours are not us!” cried Dougie.

Their Shadow counterparts became hostile with glowing energy. “But we are you! We are you’re true selves!” they all said simultaneously and transformed into shadowy musicians that resembled Pied Pipers who attacked The McBusted boys, forcing the Phantom Thieves to battle them. “What the heck is going on?!” cried Ryuji with confusion as the Phantom Thieves barely dodged the Shadow McBusted boy’s attacks with their aerobic abilities. “Could they really be their shadow selves?” said Ann with awe. “Whatever the case, we have to fight them! I am sensing hostile readings from them!” warned Fubuta. “Stay back and let us handle this” said Ren, defending The McBusted boys.

The Shadow McBusted boys had all kinds of tricks, playing their flutes that summoned musical notes that they could use offensively or lured their foes into a slumber, as shown when Yusuke got caught up in their song and fell asleep while standing up. “Hey, wake up!” cried Makoto, who prodded him in the elbow to wake him up. “I’ll teach you to use art as trickery,” said Yusuke, who summoned his Kubuki-like Persona Goemon to attack them with his ice attacks, Mabufu.

The Shadow McBusted boys can also use their flutes to summon shadows that resemble rats, which charge towards The Phantom Thieves. “Why does it have to be rats!” screamed Haru, who uses her Persona that resembles a headless woman wearing a Rococo style dress Milady, to unleash her Mapsio to get rid of the rats. “You can feed on them, can you not?” asked Ryuji to Morgana. “Ewww! I am not a savage beast!” answered Morgana with disgust.

Their other technique is to summon shadows that take the form of young children who appear to be in a trance, using them as decoy shields to take the attacks or to attack The Phantom Thieves with their shadowy attacks. “Just what are they?!” said Ann, who is uncomfortable with the idea of attacking children even if they are not real. “I think they are loosely based on the actual Pied Piper story,” said Futuba, who shuddered at the idea. Once she became composed, she added, “But you have to take out those shadows. Just think of them as everyday shadows,” said Futuba. “It’s not like we have a choice,” said Ren grimly, using his Persona Arsène to quickly take them out using his shadowy attack Eiha.

The McBusted boys felt guilty about having the Phantom Thieves to fight their darker sides, feeling the responsibility for dragging them into their mess, but they didn’t know what to do. Deep down, they knew that their shadow selves had a point, yet they didn’t want to admit it.

The Shadow McBusted boys played a hypnotic tune from their flutes. “Don’t listen to it!” warned Futuba, but it was too late for Ryuji and Morgana, who fight each other. “I am not surprised by this,” signed Ann. “Snap out of it!” said Makoto, who summoned her Persona that resembled a motorbike, Johanna, to use her Energy Shower to cure their brainwashing. Ryuji and Morgana regained their senses and used their Personas to fight back, including the Pirate-like Persona Captain Kidd who belonged to Ryuji, zapping The Shadow McBusted boys with his electrical attacks Mazio.

More rats like shadows were summoned, who scattered all over the place. Ren got out his handguns and fired them at them from a distance to quickly take them out. He also uses his knives to slice them at close range. “This is what I call pest control,” said Yusuke as the other Phantom Thieves helped him out while also using their Personas to take down The Shadow McBusted boys.

Shadows that resembled children appeared once again to shield The Shadow McBusted boys, which allowed them to fire their musical notes. “They keep on getting in our way!” cried Haru in frustration. “I’ll have to teach them a lesson!” said Ann, who used her Persona resembling a woman wearing a dress known as Carmen and used Tentrafoo to confuse the child like shadows, making them feel dizzy.

This gives The Phantom Thieves an opening to combine their Personas’ attacks on The Shadow McBusted boys. They weren’t giving up as the shadows countered their attacks with their combined musical notes, causing an explosion upon attack with both sides getting caught in it.

Although the Shadow McBusted boys were weakened, the Phantom Thieves were getting worn down. Futuba came up with a conclusion and said to the McBusted boys, “You guys, I know you all may not want to admit it, but I think you have to accept your shadow selves. I know of this because I have gone through something like that before”.

The McBusted boys agreed with Danny, solemnly saying, “You’re right, we’ve been thinking along the lines as we were watching you all, and we apologize for dragging you all into our darker sides.” “I didn’t want to admit it, but deep down, I knew that my evil twin wasn’t wrong, especially with me getting you all into this mess in the first place,” said Dougie remorsefully. “It’s true that I was the one who caused Busted to split. I thought I was behind that, but maybe I’ve been taking this for granted,” admitted Charlie. “I may have gotten better at dealing with my bipolar but it’s still a part of me that I shouldn’t forget about,” said Tom. “I guess we still have a lot of growing to do,” said Harry.

“I may not know you all too much, but we stand by you all,” said Ren supportively. “By opening up with your darker sides, I believe that’s how you all grow,” said Ann, backing Ren up. “It’s just like with the rest of us that makes us human,” said Ryuji gently.

The McBusted boys agreed with them, and they approached their shadow selves. “I’m sorry that I’ve been ignoring you for so long,” said Tom. “I know we’ll work on our anxiety issues together,” said Danny. “I know I can come across as a jerk at times, but I promise that we can get better with that,” said James. “I still have to work on my addiction, but I am getting there,” said Matt. “I thank you for reminding me that I can’t run from my past,” said Charlie. “You’re not wrong about me being competitive, and I accept that,” said Harry. “You’ve been a part of me for me to better myself. I thank you for it,” said Dougie.

Their shadow selves were happy to be accepted as their bodies became manifested into glowing energy with great power. Voices were echoing from the glowing energy, which said to The McBusted boys, “As part of our appreciation for embracing us, the question is, are you all going to let her get away with her treachery just for doing the right thing with your career on the line? Then we’ll lend you our combined power to set the stage. I am thou, thou art I, and together, let’s sing our hearts out for the truth.”

The glowing energy turned into fox-like masks, and they were given to the McBusted boys. Their clothing became transformed into multi-coloured hero outfits (with green for Danny, yellow for Tom, Indigo for James, Violet for Charlie, Red for Dougie, Orange for Matt and Blue for Harry) and their shared Persona became awakened which resembled a humanoid coyote wearing Aztec style clothing, including multi-coloured feathers. Their Persona is known as the trickery God Huehuecóyotl.

The McBusted boys and The Phantom Thieves were surprised that they were given a shared Persona. “Whoa! That’s our Persona?!” said Danny with astonishment. “This power, now we can fight!” said Tom excitedly. “I am a fox,” said James jokingly. “I feel our power as one!” said Matt. “I have never seen a joint Persona before!” said Morgana with surprise. “Just how is that possible!” asked Haru with bewilderment. “Maybe it’s because we’re a super group,” suggested Dougie. “Now that is like combined art into one,” said Yusuke. “I believe your Persona is based on the Aztec mythology Huehuecóyotl, the God of music, dance, mischief, and song,” said Fubuta.

“That sounds like us, alright,” joked Harry. “In any case, welcome to the Phantom Thieves,” said Ren. “We’ve been watching you all fight with your Personas, but this is the first time for us. Think you can all teach us?” asked Charlie. “Why of course, we’ll teach you everything we know,” said Makoto.

And so with their shared Persona on their side, the McBusted boys were ready to team up with the Phantom Thieves to infiltrate Melissa’s palace.

McBusted X Persona 5 - Melody of Truth Chapter 1 - Roses has thorns

Here's another crossover story with two of my favourite boy bands McFly and Busted formed together in their super group McBusted and the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5. Persona is an RPG video games series as part of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise where you get to play as characters using their Persona to fight shadows. I've enjoyed playing the series for the story and characters that I thought I'll come up with a short story where the McBusted boys join forces with the Phantom Thieves. It'll also guest star David Platt, my favourite character from Coronation Street who is played by Jack P Shepherd. Do note that it will contain some heavy handled subjects. 

The story beings when the McBusted boys travelled to Japan for a charity event that the Phantom Thieves were attending, only for the McBusted boys  to become confronted with an idol who threatened to frame them for a crime they didn't commit.  

Enjoy and I do plan to come up with other Persona crossovers. 

McBusted X Persona 5 – Melody of truth

Chapter 1 - Roses has thorns 

Two UK boy bands, McFly and Busted, formed as super group McBusted, have just arrived to Tokyo as part of their tour in Japan. “I am excited to see all of our fans in Japan!” said Tom excitedly as soon as they set foot in Japan. “So I’m I Tom; we Busted happened to have a large following in Japan,” said Matt. “You Busted Lads aren’t the only ones who paid Japan a visit, so I’m sure there are as many fans of us McFly in Japan,” said Harry, who is always set for a friendly competition. “You got that right! It’s where I’ve got my Chicken Satay Recipe from!” said Danny, who playfully joined in. “As if we allow you Little Ones take the spotlight from us!” said James slyly.

They all laughed with their banter. Charlie then became composed and said, “Now now, Kids, remember that we’re also here as part of the charity event to remind the importance of talking about mental health.” “You’re right about that, Charlie. It’s an important cause, and I’m glad that we get to spread the word overseas,” said Danny. “Yeah, we gotta be among the ones who spread awareness, using our careers to inspire others,” said Matt, knowing that he and the others has been through mental health issues behind their career, with each of them hoping to use their example to resonate and educate others. “Afterwards, we should explore the wonders of Japan, including the Pokémon centres, the zoos and aquariums, the shrines, cafes, anime and the deer parks...but let’s not go to the Akihabara basement,” said Dougie. “Yeah, we should do. I still remember when we went to Japan back in the days,” said Tom. “And now I get to join the fun,” said Charlie, smiling.

Harry just remembered something and said, “Oh, I’ve heard that there’s this famous idol who is supposed to attend the same event as us, named Melissa Liher. She is supposed to be popular with her captivating charms, incredible talent, and smashing hits. There’s a chance that we’ll be meeting her!”  “Ah, I have heard of her. It would be great to get to know her,” said James eagerly. What they didn’t notice on their phones was that there was a small, black icon that resembled an eye.

As they were making their way to the stadium, there was also a group of high school students and a cat who had the ability to talk nearby. Beneath their seemingly ordinary appearance, they are known as The Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Each of them has the ability to control entities known as Personas, which they use to fight against corrupted adults and demons who try to control society. They were discussing among themselves as they were doing some investigation.

“So this is the place where a group of celebrities will gather,” said a high scholar with wavy black hair named Ren Amamiya, analysing the situation. “There’s bound to be a large number of them with this being a charity event that aims to promote mental health,” suspected Makoto Nijime, the school council president with bob hair. “That sounds like a good cause; having idols that set a good example,” said the girl with curly light ginger hair Haru Okumura brightly. “I don’t know; there are some that could be as corrupted as those adults that we faced, ruining our lives,” said the young rebellious athlete with spiky dyed blond hair Ryuji Sakamoto bitterly. “Yeah, it’s a shame that some use their career to take advantage,” said the girl with blond pigtails Ann Takamaki shamefully.

“Regardless, we’re here to investigate a number of celebrities who have become comatose after becoming shut down for unknown reasons,” said Morgana, who is the cat. “There’s no doubt that it’s something to do with the Metaverse, that if I can track it down,” said Futaba Sakura, the girl with orange hair wearing glasses and headphones. “A dark, mysterious case this is, but in the meantime, we have to act natural until we find any suspicious activity,” said Yusuke Kitagawa, the boy with dark blue hair.

“Yeah, just act like we’re regular fans having a good time until something pops up,” said Haru. “It’s a good thing we have our tickets in time, not like some people who almost missed out on them,” said Morgana as he slyly gazed at Ryuji. “Hey hey! It’s not like they’re cheap! Besides, I’ve been busy with muscle training,” protested Ryuji. “Maybe you should prioritize saving your money wisely,” said Ann, joining in the banter. “See? Lady Ann has a point,” said Morgana.  “Even athletes take breaks in between,” said Makoto playfully, lecturing Ryuji, much to his embarrassment. “Now, everyone, let’s focus on getting our seats,” said Ren gently, reminding them while enjoying their banter.

Before the show starts, The McBusted boys were at a Meet and Greet, meeting up and taking photos with their international fans. There were a few people who came from other countries, including a young man from Coronation Street named David Platt. “My son is a fan of you guys. He would be thrilled if I got a selfie with you all!” said David as he was sharing tea with Danny. “Your son has great taste here, just like with this tea,” said Danny, smiling. David smiled with his joke. As soon as The McBusted boys had left David, he was glaring at them with his ominous eyes.

The McBusted boys have also meet Melissa Liher , a beautiful idol wearing a pink idol outfit that wouldn’t be out of place in from magical girl anime show and holding a parasol. “Wow! Such enchantment!” said Dougie, who is captivated by Melissa ’s cute appearance. “It’s my pleasure to meet up with a super-group overseas!” said Melissa  excitedly. “We heard so much about you, so it’s great to have this chance to meet up with you in an event like this,” said Matt. “My my, it seems like it’s destiny,” said Melissa , humouring them. “It’ll be delightful to see your performance,” said Harry. As soon as they left, Melissa  said to herself, “They’re such handsome men...more for me to break.”

After the meet and greet, the main event got started with various pop bands and idols performing on stage, starting with McBusted singing their classics, including Five Colours in her Hair and Year 3000. Their fans were going nuts for them. The Phantom Thieves were among the audience watching them. They couldn’t help but be intrigued by them. “So they’re McBusted, who are McFly and Busted combined together,” said Ren with interest. “They must be the British super group who are popular, and it’s not hard to see why with their catchy songs!” said Ann as she was dancing to their high-energy performance. “To hear such foreign art from another country is rather refining,” said Yusuke with fascination. “They’re such handsome men! Britain must be full of good-looking guys,” said Haru, gushing over them. “Don’t tell me you’re thinking of going there as a foreign exchange program!” said Ryuji in disbelief.

Melissa   was the next performer, captivating the crowd with her lively pop songs and energetic dance. “So this must be Melissa ; The Shining Idol who shines the brightest,” said Makoto. “I’ve heard that there were many men she dated who had abused her, not to mention other female idols giving her a hard time out of jealousy,” said Futuba. “Men, she must have gone through a lot,” said Ryuji with astonishment. “Yet she is still able to keep on bouncing back and keep on shining. It must be brave of her,” said Ann with admiration. “I wonder if it’s all true?” asked Morgana.

The McBusted boys, who were watching backstage, were admiring her performance too. “Wow! It’s like a Disney Princess on stage!” said Tom as they were dancing to her song. “I can see why she is popular,” said James as if he were lured by Melissa  ’s charms. “She sings like an angel,” concurred Charlie.

After the performance, The McBusted boys, Melissa , and other artists were at a press conference, giving their speeches about mental health. Again, The Phantom Thieves were watching them as part of the audience. “We are truly honoured to be part of this charity event that helps to raise awareness of an important cause,” said Harry sincerely. “We hope that all the money raised for this event will help out a lot” said James earnestly.  “We want to help remind you all that if you’re going through something, then please speak out as you’re not truly alone,” said Danny reassuringly. “Even though we have been through struggles but by being open with them, it’ll be the stepping stone to healing,” said Matt with passion.

The Phantom Thieves were intrigued by their speech. “I can tell that they are really passionate about the cause,” said Makoto admirably. “Guess they’re here to be truly part of it,” said Ryuji, who was impressed. “This makes them good in my books,” said Morgana. Melissa  was giving her speech, saying, “Er, yeah, it’s important to be open about anything and remember that there’s more than just being happy,” said Melissa . Ren couldn’t help but observe Melissa ’s body language, who looked disinterested and looked around the place as if she wanted to get out of here while The McBusted boys and other artists were doing their speech. Even if he wasn’t watching Melissa , Futuba asked Ren if he noticed that there was something off about her.

After the speech, the McBusted boys were making their way through the corridor, discussing among themselves. “That event was a great turnout,” said Tom. “Yeah, it was good to raise money for an important cause,” said Charlie. “And to meet fans in another country,” said Matt. They then heard loud voices that were coming from the other side. It sounded like an intense argument.

“Get out of my way! You Trans are such disgusting aliens! You only become a man to prey on me!” said a hostile feminine voice. “No! I’m not! I’m only trying to be how I live!” protested another voice. “And that’s just my opinion that I can’t stand you, LGBTQ faggots! You all are nothing but a stain in our society!” argued the feminine voice. The McBusted boys rushed over to see what the commotion was about. They found Melissa  who is with the transgender individual named Takeru.

“Melissa, I thought you were an angel with those songs of yours. is about love,” said Takeru who sounds hurt. “As if anyone would love a freak like you,” said Melissa  mockingly and whacked Takeru with her parasol. The McBusted boys were horrified to witness Melissa ’s true nature as if she’s a different person. “I’ll make sure that you’ll regret being born the way you are!” said Melissa   and was about to hit Takeru with her parasol again, but The McBusted boys rushed over and intervened, defending the transgender fan by shielding him, and Dougie holding the parasol.

“Hey! Leave them alone!” cried Dougie. Melissa  snatched back her parasol, which caused Dougie to fall back towards his band mates. Her handbag was also dropped on the floor, with her makeup rolling out.  “Are you alright?” asked Danny to Takeru who nodded at them. Being shaken by the event, he was gently escorted away by the McBusted boys. During that time, Melissa  got out her makeup and painting it on her eye, which makes it look like she has received a black eye.

Once Takeru had left, Harry confronted Melissa  and said, “Melissa , how could you assault a fan like that?!” “And saying those hateful things because they’re different is wrong!” cried James. Melissa  looked at them coldly and said, “You boys have some nerve standing up to me just because I have an opinion. For for, I’ll be reporting you all for assaulting me just because I am a woman. And I have my black eye to prove it.”

The McBusted boys were stunned to see her ‘black eye’. “No, you won’t! We’ll be the ones reporting you for that incident!” cried Matt in denial. “No one will believe in you, men. Everyone will believe in me because I look beautiful and innocent. Everyone will hate you all, and your careers will come to an end. May that be your punishment for getting in my way. Oh, I’ve never thought highly of you British Twats, your music, and the way you all act cutesy with each other. After all, only I can rule the entire idol industry with me having all the fame and money,” said Melissa  with a small, sadistic smile on her face and left them.”

The McBusted boys were in shock that they’re going to be in so much trouble, with their careers going to be ruined. “How could our trip to Japan end up like this?” said Matt in disbelief. “Dougie, tell me you didn’t hit her?!” demanded Tom. “I didn’t do anything, I swear!” cried Dougie. “Either way, no one will believe in us. It’s what we get for standing up to someone,” said Charlie in distress. “All I wanted was to be on stage and make music,” said Danny with a mixture of sadness and anxiety.

The Phantom Thieves happened to witness the whole event from the other corridor, feeling sorry for them. “That Melissa  has some nerve!” said Ryuji in fury. “To think that we have praised her for her bravery and talent earlier!” cried Ann. “It seems that she is the kind of person who is angelic on the outside, poisonous on the inside,” said Yusuke grimly. “We've got to help clear their names!” said Haru. This reminded Ren of a similar incident that has happened to him before, and said, “Yeah, I can’t let them take the blame like I have!” and was the first to rush over to the McBusted boys, with the others hurried behind him.

“Melissa  sure thinks highly of herself. She acts like she owns this dome like her mansion,” ranted Dougie. Suddenly, something strange was happening just before The Phantom Thieves were able to reach to the McBusted boys, with the surroundings becoming distorted. “What’s happening?” said James with puzzlement. “Now what?” muttered Tom. “Hey, what’s going on?” said Makoto with surprise. “Could this be...” said Morgana before both groups were being sent into another dimension. Behind them was David Platt, who is seemingly watching them.
